Job Description

GWF Power Systems located in Northern California, is currently looking for a Maintenance Engineer for Continuous Improvement, with a strong background in Six Sigma and Lean Concepts


Focus Areas:

Using Lean and Six Sigma methodologies, improve over Power Plant Maintenance Activities and Quality by leading and mentoring maintenance &  business improvement projects.

 

Responsibilities Include:

•          Act as the "agent of change" for Continuous Improvement and not just an innovator of ideas; be capable of identifying areas of opportunity and implement effective improvements cross functionally.  Incorporate and teach individuals and Teams within the organization

•          Drive effective application of Lean Six Sigma methodologies to transform a currently reactive environment to a formalized maintenance driven culture that executes and keeps score (metrics). 

•          Focus on assisting key cross functional strategic initiatives and leading and mentoring CI projects that help to address GWF’s Key Performance Indicators & Drivers such as Quality, Maintenance TQI, Proactive Issue Resolution, Plant Availability and overall plant system and process improvements.

•          Serve as the subject matter expert in Lean Six Sigma, Project Management and effective facilitation particularly as it applies to creating an organizational environment that effectively balances customer and shareholder needs.

•          Develop project scope, objectives and metrics – coach, mentor and assist project teams – provide input on priorities.

•          Create and deliver Lean and Six Sigma training – in support of strategic business priorities.


Requirements:

• Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Certification from top Six Sigma Corporation

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering

• 2-3 years extensive and proven use of Lean and DMAIC methodologiesin continuous improvement Black Belt role in a customer centric organization.

• Previous exposure to and understanding of Customer Experience Management  concepts and Customer Loyalty drivers, and the continuous improvement of end-to-end processes focused on the customer experience.

• Demonstrated success in gaining efficiencies through DMAIC and the application of Lean tools to transactional and operational business processes.  Experience in

CBMP & FMEA tools also preferred.

• Proven ability to establish, monitor and improve process improvement metrics that align to business model & initiatives and value creating activities.

• Familiarity and experience navigating and pulling data from various data bases, software systems including PI, CMMS systems record keeping housing platforms.

• Proven ability to provide leadership to many teams assigned to multiple projects while under heavy deadlines and sometimes changing priorities.

• Excellent influencing, presentation, problem solving,  project management and conflict management skills.

• The ability to provide strong leadership and technical expertise while building cross-functional relationships throughout the Company.  Partnering effectively with various business units in the organization to accomplish department goals.  (Building Effective Teams and Organizational Agility)

• Exemplary communication skills and an ability to influence at all levels within the organization as well as with customers.  Must be able to formally present complex rationales, strategies or processes in a simple and succinct fashion at all levels of the organization.

 • Structured, organized and focused thought processes, and have the ability to solve complex problems.  A bias toward action and a style conducive to teamwork is essential.
