Job Description

This position is posted in the following range:
Nuclear Spec II (SG 14)      = 9-13 years of equivalent experience in the nuclear industry
Nuclear Spec I (SG 16)         = 13-16 years of equivalent experience in the nuclear industry
Nuclear Spec, Sr (SG 18) = 20 + years of equivalent experience in the nuclear industry
* Note: Education and relevant experience will be used to determine appropriate salary and salary grade level.

Position Summary:
This position is responsible for the tracking and trending of electrical motor performance to determine the scheduling of refurbishing/replacement of various motors at the D.C. Cook Nuclear Plant in Bridgman, Michigan. In addition, responsible to the functional area manager to perform work activities and projects requiring the application of technical knowledge in a safe, cost effective and efficient way.

1. Possess the authority and knowledge to make some technical decisions based on calculated risks without management review.

2. Exhibits advanced level proficiency plus unique technical knowledge that allows effective leadership and participation in recommended courses of action and the achievement of outages/projects/assignments in a safe, efficient and economical manner.

3. Leads organizational unit activities in specific areas of engineering and project management activities.

4. Leads, facilitates and coordinates work activities of others within work group, team or those external to the company and assumes the role of project or function manager for assigned tasks.

5. Organizes and lead outages/projects and task forces as assigned.

6. Reviews work of others when assigned.

7. Projects credibility and competence on technical issues and has highly developed presentation skills.

8. Identifies, resolves and initiates solutions to highly complex problems that are unique to the company and industry and requires specialized knowledge of equipment and/or problem solving techniques.

9. Support and participate in the Emergency Plan Organization, and Corrective Action Program activities as assigned, and in accordance with procedures and policies applicable for the assigned role.

10. Perform all duties, and work with other employees in a safe manner, in compliance with appropriate company safety policies and rules.

11. Assume responsibility for continuously upgrading knowledge and skill.

12. Performs all other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering, Project Management, Construction Management, Business Administration, Biology or Chemistry, or Associate Degree in an engineering discipline from an ABET accredited school or equivalent work experience.

Strong background is required in electrical motor diagnostic analysis. Ideally the top candidate will come from the Nuclear industry. Will also consider candidates with fossil plant (coal and natural gas), chemical plant, petroleum station and manufacturing industry experience.
