Job Summary:
The Project Manager (Sr) has the responsibility and authority to plan, estimate, organize, execute, and control a large projects from their initial authorization through engineering, procurement, planning, implementation, closeout, and project critique (or cancellation). The Project Manager (Sr) has the responsibility to ensure that assigned projects are safely executed on schedule, within authorized cost limits, and to the quality specified with due consideration of nuclear safety, personnel safety, and ALARA. The Project Manager (Sr) is the single point of contact regarding a project and assumes the leadership role in managing the project.

Primary Responsibilities:
º Manages projects from assignment to closeout/project critique, and ensures all phases of project meet cost, schedule, and quality requirements.
º Maintains active interface with Project Sponsor and assures Sponsor criteria and objectives are met and keeps Sponsor fully aware of progress.
º Establishes project team and ensures key organizations are represented, aware of project scope, involved in finalizing man-hr and cost estimates, and participates in project initiation, implementation, and closure. Works with customers to identify wants and needs.
º Obtains concurrence of project team on the project estimates.
º Works closely with project team in developing and executing a detailed plan addressing all phases of a project. Ensures task assignments and completion dates are represented within the supporting detail of the plan. Ensures project related tasks are completed within agreed to schedule.
º Through team reviews assures all technical requirements are identified, defined and bounded (e.g. specs, codes, regulations, calcs, etc.).
º Verifies applicable industry experience is incorporated into project planning, design, and implementation.
º Works closely with project team to develop a Project Plan. Ensures tasks assignments and target dates assigned by project team are represented in the Project Plan. Ensures project related tasks are completed within the agreed to schedule that supports project goals.
º Develops contracting and material procurement strategies that optimize cost, schedule, and quality considerations. Negotiates changes to contracts within the general scope of work with support from the supply organization.
º Reviews received proposals to assure adequate funding is available for both contractor and station support costs. Coordinates contractor bid package reviews, and bid evaluations as required.
º Provides expectations around contractor plans, schedules, and reports. Establishes ground rules (frequency of updates, meetings, definition of milestones).
º Leads project team to actively assess risk exposure of projects and develop alternatives to mitigate risks.
º Establishes project control plans and ensures their implementation to evaluate critical elements of work to identify forecasted variances from plan so timely corrective actions can be taken.
º Assures project scope is controlled, work is performed as planned and scheduled and cost estimates remain valid by keeping forecasts current.
º Negotiates with functional management and TVAN support groups to establish resource commitments required to support the project.
º Verifies changes in project scope, cost and schedule receive appropriate and timely management review and approval. Ensures clear communications are maintained.
º Coordinates project closeout. Conducts project critique. Identifies, and documents lessons learned.

Minimum Eligibility Requirements:
º Bachelor's degree in Nuclear Operations, Engineering, Engineering Technology, Math, Physics, or Chemistry, or equivalent related education, training & experience.  
º At least ten years of experience associated with the maintenance and/or operation of a nuclear, fossil, or hydro plant or equivalent with at least five years of demonstrated project management experience.
º Must be familiar with project management principles.
º Must have detailed working knowledge of Quality Assurance programs and practices.
º Must have the ability to analyze complex technical and management problems and determine the most cost-effective solutions.
º Must have detailed working knowledge of power plant design, construction, and maintenance techniques and practices.
º Must have strong communication skills both verbal and written.
º Must have working knowledge of upper tier external and internal documents that govern power plants operations (e.g., 10 CFR, FSAR, and NQAM).  
º Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is required, or must obtain PMP certification within one year from starting in this position.
