This position is a hiearchy and may be filled at the Production Specialist I or II level. This position is designed to utilize technical expertise in a particular area of specialty in support of operations and maintenance across the Xcel fleet. These specialty areas may be, but not limited to, Controls, Electrical, Turbine-Generator/Rotating Equipment, Boilers, Plant Performance, Metallurgy, Welding, NDE, or Reliability. Position requires extensive interfacing with many departments and plants. Responsibilities are generally 50% in technical support, 30% in outage support, and 20% in maintaining fleet-wide programs and processes. Position would focus primarily in the Energy Supply facilities. Extensive travel may be required within the assigned region of responsibility. Essential Responsibilities:

College level coursework and/or work experience demonstrating knowledge of standard engineering principles, practices and techniques required.
Requires extensive travel to support long duration projects and subject to 24/7 hour call out. Requires non-typical work schedule including shift work, weekend and holiday work and occasional significant extended work hours for long duration projects.
Requires a significant amount of time working in a power plant environment which may involve conditions such as extreme temperatures, confined spaces, noise, and air quality conditions requiring proper use of personal protective equipment. | |
