Job Description

NAES Corporation, a leading provider of 3rd party O&M services to the Independent Power Industry, is currently recruiting for the following position:

Burney Forest Products is an approximate 30-megawatt wood-fueled biomass facility near Burney, California that sells all of its electrical capacity and energy to Pacific Gas and Electric Company under long term contract.

Job Description:

Work under the direction of the Operations Supervisor, the Lead Operator, or other operational authority.

Operate, start, and shut down all equipment in the areas assigned, including but not limited to, turbine-generators, boilers, pumps, fuel unloading and handling systems, and related auxiliary equipment. Operate water treatment and waste water treatment equipment, related equipment, and auxiliaries. Perform required testing and chemical preparations and additions to maintain water quality control.

Monitor all machinery for proper operation and maintain correct lubrication levels. Observe and record readings of indicating and recording instruments.  Maintain operational reporting logs and perform other necessary and related clerical work. Operate auxiliary equipment from the Control Room. Assist Lead Operator in the Control Room. Perform maintenance and lubrication tasks, and assist in the maintenance area. Direct other employees in the same area, and train other operators. Maintain high standards of safety and housekeeping. Communicate with other operational personnel as required for safe and effective plant operation. Work shift hours, overtime and irregular hours as requested. Cooperate fully with all persons in the organization.

Qualifications:

  • High school/vocational school diploma or equivalent experience.
  • At least two months of qualification training and successful completion of all qualification requirements for Plant Equipment Operator.
  • Be able to do reaching, heavy lifting up to 75 pounds, walking, stooping, standing and climbing, and pass hearing and eye test.
  • Thoroughly familiar (either previously or gained in the position) with the operating characteristics of the power plant and substation equipment.
  • Be thoroughly familiar with the operating characteristics of power plant and substation equipment and must be able to demonstrate such knowledge by successfully completing the Company training program.
  • Be thoroughly familiar with the Company's electrical and mechanical tagging rules, switching rules, and operating rules.
  • Be thoroughly familiar with the company's safety rules for this and related positions.
  • Must have valid driver's license.
