In Switzerland, ABB Corporate Research, located in the proximity of Zurich, employs 170 scientists from 25 countries with expertise in automation and power technologies for manufacturing, consumer and process industries as well as power utilities.

Our Integrated Sensor Systems group within the Automation Devices department is looking for a Research Scientist (m/f) specialized in optical sensors. As a part of ABB Corporate Research, you will work in interdisciplinary, dynamic, and creative teams with engineers and physicists who share a wide range of experience and competence. Your tasks: research and develop novel optical sensors • integrate devices into industrial products • ascertain device reliability • create intellectual property • support technology transfer into ABB business units • interact with multidisciplinary R&D teams and business unit colleagues

The requirements: PhD in physics or electrical engineering • post-doc experience advantageous • thorough expertise in at least one of the following fields: optical sciences, optical fiber and waveguide technology, optical sensors, micro-mechanical sensors, opto-electronics • team player with intercultural competence
