Job Description
The P&W Instrumentation SolutionsBusiness Development Manager is accountable for proactively developing current Instrumentation systems business by identifying and developing areas of profitable growth and leading global and local teams to implement the strategy of BU PSP and System Group PSP I&C. The main task will be to grow business based on value added instrumentation solutions for power and water industries complementing the portfolio and in coordination with ICE and Energy Efficiency initiatives. The location of the position is to be decided.
Your tasks: Build business network internally (e.g. Product Resposible Units, Global Marketing Unit, Local BUs, Front End Sales, BU Measurement Products) and relationships externally (e.g. EPC, Utilities, engineering firms and main suppliers) • take lead on marketing strategy and implementation of sales for BU PSP field products (e.g. Flame Scanners, Carbon in Ash, Condition Monitoring, ...) and relevant turn-key solutions • suggest new markets and areas of development and growth for power and water field devices and I&C integrated systems, including BU PSP products as well as other BUs' and third party products • interface and cooperate with and be reference for other BUs and especially with BU Measurement Products for alignment on marketing and technology strategies as well as for main prospects negotiations • manage the consultation process for project opportunities, with the stakeholders, and influencing the decision processes • continuously observe business opportunities and competitor strategies • identify, develop and implement strategic initiatives for growing instrumentation systems business into power and water industry segments • recommend mergers, acquisitions, alliances, and manage ongoing process for market share growth • identify, initiate and develop strategic partnerships and recommend and develop new key accounts • guide, convince and support customers, industry and group leaders in the development, implementation and measurement of their businesses and strategies • identify, develop and implement cross selling strategies of ABB portfolio to Power and Water customers • support and develop territorial BU strategies together with GMU and FES, EPC Team and Account Managers • ensure feedback on technology and market needs • coach individuals and small groups on business development skills methods and planning • continuously follow-up with local units and create a mechanism to track and analyze results of business development efforts

The requirements: • university-level degree, preferably a dual degree in mechanical engineering and economics, or similar qualifications in business administration • several years of experience in the field of industry-oriented Business Development or Market Intelligence • experience in leading project teams • intercultural awareness and experience • analytical and strategic mind • ability to work under pressure and to manage several projects at the same time • team player with highly developed communication and contact skills • excellent English, spoken and written; other languages advantageous • convincing presentation skills • self-starter with excellent networking skills
