Operate and maintain all coal handling equipment.
Experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic needed to perform troubleshooting/repairs on mobile equipment (Caterpillar, Volvo, etc). Troubleshooting and repair of hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic and air conditioning systems required. Welding experience required. Basic computer skills required.
Perform cleaning work on the coal conveyor system, such as car dumpers,bunkers, runways, tripper room, belt decks, stacker-reclaimer and tunnels.
Load, unload and handle coal, materials, supplies and equipment; where required, couple and uncouple railroad cars; set and release brakes, operate rail switches; signal locomotive operator when to start, stop, go forward or backward; and flag traffic at crossings. Haul and move materials, supplies and equipment; cleaning work of all kinds in, around, and on equipment, buildings, and yard; clean and remove ashes and debris; cut grass and weeds; dig ditches; work on tracks and track beds; replace light bulbs and similar unskilled manual tasks.
Operate and perform maintenance on all coal yard related equipment.
Clean and perform lubrication on all equipment including conveyors, pumps, large motors and gearboxes and rolling stock.
Secure, identify and transport coal samples, as directed.
Inspect and test fire equipment. and properly document tests.
Operate automotive equipment.
Maintain equipment, tools and work areas in a clean and orderly condition.
Perform duties in accordance with Company’s safety rules, operating regulations and practices and report unsafe conditions and practices.
Report irregularities and abnormal conditions to the appropriate supervision.
Clear and tag equipment in coal yard area.
Assist in training other employees.
Assist employees as required.
Operate equipment as required for cleaning purposes.
Perform other job duties as assigned. Minimum Requirements Associate degree in technical field, or equivalent.

Must have 3+ years of experience repair/operating the following equipment: Bulldozers, scrapers, loaders, forklifts, etc. (Caterpillar and Volvo experience preferred)
Must have mechanical and electrical aptitude and be capable of working on a wide variety of equipment such as large motors and gearboxes, conveyors, pumps, hydraulic systems, electrical controls (troubleshooting and maintenance), calibration and maintenance of weighing instrumentation and chute plugged switches, welding, cutting and fabrication, etc.

Respond to callouts to maintain and support business operational needs and schedules. Rotating shift work may be required; holidays and weekends as required.
