Job Description

Perform semi-skilled machine work and assist others in the inspection, repairing, rebuilding, disassembly, and assembly of equipment sent to Central Machine Shop and perform the same at other places of temporary assignment. Perform duties such as:

1. Operate all machine shop and portable machine tools to perform work such as rough turning, boring, sawing of materials, using threading machines, etc.

2. Perform general parts cleaning, painting, and operate the blast cleaning equipment.

3. Perform maintenance work on the Central Machine Shop building and equipment.

4. Assist,as directed, employees of equal or higher classification in carrying through work assignments.

5. Instruct, direct, and lay out the work of assigned personnel.

6. Perform all work in accordance with safety regulations and acceptable shop practices.

7. Report irregularities or abnormal conditions.

8. Carry out assignments in training for fire fighting and first aid. Carry out assignments in performing fire fighting.

9. Take notes and keep records as directed.

10. Perform similar or less skilled work, as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

Satisfactorily perform all of the demonstrations listed below:

1. Demonstrate the ability to use and read the following measuring tools: inside and outside micrometers, dial indicators, depth micrometers, and vernier measuring tools.

2. Operate the blast cleaning and paint booth equipment.

3. Make a drill press vise from a drawing
