|
Responsible for the effective planning, optimization and verification of Project & Field Services (P&FS) Welding Quality Control efforts associated with Projects and Outages managed or performed by P&FS in one AEP area regions. This effort includes coordination of testing and supervision of code related work, and field engineering support of all major projects in the region assigned. Responsible for providing direction and oversight of the AEP Fossil Welding Program in the region assigned. This position provides a critical function of ensuring AEP obtains quality in the Major Projects and Outages managed by P&FS. Maintain all documentation required by ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code and National Board Inspection Code related to the AEP Welding Quality Control in one of the AEP regions.
Optimize the effectiveness of the RSO firstline supervisors by being the central point of contact for all of the welding quality control functions related to assigned projects. Identify and direct the development of new or revised processes/procedures governing project and outage functions.
Train the RSO firstline supervisors on the importance of proper practices governing AEP Welding Procedures.
Manage the effective completion of welding quality related activities across all assigned outage Projects .
Assist in providing effective identification and timely resolution of welding quality control related issues. Assure complete and accurate action plans are in place to resolve the issues. Perform inspections on boiler components to assure compliance to state and local standards; Perform inspections on boiler components to assure compliance to National Board Inspection Code; Review weld procedures and brief welders on these procedures; Certify welders to approved weld procedures; Lead routine Quality Control meetings; Coordinate work with the Authorized Inspector; Write clear and concise Quality Control reports; Shall have the ability to travel extensively; and Shall have the ability to work independently with minimum supervision. Shall have the ability to work at various heights.
Assume other duties and responsibilities as assigned Minimum Requirements Education: High School Diploma. Experience: Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of field related experience in power plant maintenance and 3 years experience in quality control related duties. Supervisory experience in power plant setting considered a plus. 5 years welding experience in a power plants.
