Job Description
POSITION PURPOSE:
Manages the Component Engineering functions to ensure the reliable and efficient performance of assigned plant equipment and components, as required by TVA policy, plant Technical Specifications, and federal, state, and local regulations.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1.Responsible as the site design authority for Component Engineering and related critical systems and structures.  As such, maintains design configuration control and design basis documents.
2.Advises site management team on impact of operating characteristics when plant configurations are changed due to availability, new/revised requirements, or unanticipated challenges, to ensure continued safe and reliable operation.
3.Manages component engineering activities in design modification and pre-operational testing for plant components in accordance with Site Procedures to ensure plant reliability.  Assure resolution of test deficiencies.
4.Manages the implementation of the component special test activities in accordance with Site Procedures to investigate and resolve plant problems and verify plant performance.
5.Manages the conduct of evaluations of component performance to identify degradation, initiate corrective actions, and monitor their implementation.
6.Manages root cause determinations.  Develop and direct action plans, including troubleshooting efforts to resolve component problems.
7.Maintain a current knowledge of Operating Experience, Nuclear experience Review of other utilities, equipment and component trends,  component modifications, licensing requirements, and material condition for the purpose of providing recommendations in direction-setting activities for the plant.
8.Manages the development of engineering requirements for specifications, design criteria, drawings, engineering technical guides, standards, and instructions to ensure design integrity and compliance with nuclear power and engineering policies, procedures, and applicable legislation.
9.Manages assignments, determine methods, resolve technical interfaces, and act as the final technical authority on engineering components, to ensure the efficient and effective production of engineering deliverables in a timely manner.
10.Maintain a competent motivated workforce in the production of engineering deliverables and resolve differences between various engineering disciplines in multi-discipline projects, to support plant systems.
11.Manages the areas of responsibility within policies and procedures, labor agreements, and applicable legislation, and provide functional guidance to allocate engineering personnel to the project organization, and ensure the sharing of technology throughout Nuclear Engineering.
12.Approve design and modification packages, including design drawings, engineering specifications, calculations, tabulations, requisitions, bills of materials, test documents, procurement specifications, etc.
13.Make decisions regarding staff evaluations, overtime, disciplinary actions, etc., to provide staffing levels, budget allocations, and priority of engineering.
14.Document, evaluate, and resolve all conditions adverse to quality in areas of assignment to ensure design integrity and compliance with all TVA Nuclear and Nuclear Engineering policies and procedures and applicable legislation.
15.Establish training requirements and qualification criteria for the Component Engineering organization and assess the adequacy of the developed training program and provided training services through observation of job performance.
16.Responsible for succession planning and workforce planning.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education. -  B.S. degree in engineering from an accredited university.  M.S. or MBA preferred.

Experience.  - Eight years of experience in responsible position related to power generation, of which three years shall be nuclear power plant experience.  

During the three years, the incumbent shall have participated in the technical or operating section activities of an operating nuclear plant during the following period:
1.One year of operation above 20 percent power.
2.Routine refueling outage (one to two months).
3.Initial plant startup testing or post refueling outage startup testing.

Minimum of four years experience in systems and post modification testing.
Certification/License, etc - Professional registration desired.  

SRO certification or license preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities -A broad knowledge of engineering theories, principles, practices, codes, standards, and regulatory requirements sufficient to manage multi-disciple production engineering.  Demonstrated ability to supervise personnel, manage budgets, control projects, and schedules.  Must hold an S-1 Clearance.
