Generation Dispatcher IV-I Job In Columbus Ohio

Based on education and experience, this opening will be filled at one of these levels:

Generation Dispatcher I      (Grade 16)
Generation Dispatcher II    (Grade 12)
Generation Dispatcher III (Grade 8)
Generation Dispatcher IV (Grade 5)

POSITION DUTIES:   The Generation Dispatcher is responsible for dispatching AEP’s generation assets into a specific market, ISO and/or control area. The Generation Dispatcher will be responsible for communicating with power plants located within a specific geographic region, and dispatching generation from those units to support the economic needs and reliability of that market or control area. Dispatchers are also responsible for the accurate record keeping of unit output, instructions and curtailments.

WORK HOURS/TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:   Average of forty hours (40) per week over the 35-day shift rotation period.

SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS: (i.e., Training, Skills):   NERC Certification is required, if not at the time of hire, within six months of employment. Experience in Control Area, RTO or Transmission Operations desired.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:   
Education: Associates degree required (preferably in a technically-related discipline) and relevant experience in system operation, security coordination or plant operations preferred but not necessary.

Generation Dispatcher IV
Minimum Requirements:   Generation Dispatcher IV is required to prepare for NERC Certification and is expected to pass their certification test within 6 months of their start date. Failure to do so within the required time frame will require the incumbent to vacate the position.

Generation Dispatcher IV’s are required to have a two-year technical degree or a high school diploma and some relevant experience.

Generation Dispatcher III
Minimum Requirements:   This position is required to be NERC Certified.

Generation Dispatcher III is required to have a two-year technical degree or equivalent power system experience, which must include:

Generation Dispatcher IV - one year or equivalent experience

Generation Dispatcher II
Minimum Requirements:   This position is required to be NERC Certified.

Generation Dispatcher II is required to have a two-year technical degree or equivalent power system experience, which must include:
1. The following minimum experience performing job functions similar to those listed for the approximate time listed:
a. Generation Dispatcher IV - one year or equivalent experience
b. Generation Dispatcher III - one year or equivalent experience


Generation Dispatcher I
Minimum Requirements:   This position is required to be NERC Certified and will be required to be PJM Certified

Generation Dispatcher I is required to have a two-year technical degree or equivalent power system experience, which must include:
1. The following minimum experience performing job functions similar to those listed for the approximate time listed:
a. Generation Dispatcher IV - one year or equivalent experience
b. Generation Dispatcher III - one year or equivalent experience
