The AREVA Reactors & Services Business Group:
The Reactors and Services Business Group combines the nuclear reactor design and construction activities and the products and services activities necessary for the maintenance, operation, modernization, and improvement of power plants. It also includes vessel propulsion nuclear reactor and research reactor activities. AREVA is currently constructing four EPR™ reactors, of generation III .

Job Description:
AREVA is seeking a Vice President, Research Development and Innovation for our Nuclear Measurements Business Unit (BUNM). The Research, Development and Innovation function is responsible to develop and maintain BU products as per specifications - including targeted direct manufacturing costs -, at or below budgeted costs and on time. It also leads the BU innovation process and defines the technology directions required to meet the BU objectives .It develops and maintain technology partnerships. It maximizes the use of SOC to reduce costs.
Responsibilities and duties include:
  • Manages a team of architects to define the architecture of the product and solutions to match the BU vision and offering.
  • Defines the core technologies, components and modules common to multiple product families and execute their development
  • Lead, on an ad-hoc basis, business development actions
  • Ensures that no multiple development of the same function or module is done across sites and product families
  • Co-ordinate with other BUs, Sector and Group R&D and Innovation managers
  • Identifies and recommends make / buy decision for product development,
  • Defines the design and quality standards to be applied to developments made for a project / customer
  • Puts in place and enforces processes and procedures to ensure integrity of, and access to, source code and IP.
  • Attracts, rotates and retains key talents in all sites, identifies and nurtures experts.
Focus on cost and efficiency is achieved through:
  • The deployment of continuous improvement programs,
  • Use of internal and external partners in strategic opportunity countries
  • Strict adherence to the Gate Model and project management practices in executing R&D projects.
  • Managing the resources load across sites.
All candidates must meet the following minimum requirements in order to be considered for this opportunity. Candidates who exceed minimum qualifications may be considered for a higher level position.
  • High level scientific background in (Nuclear) Physics, Chemistry.
  • Experience in Managing a worldwide R&D organization with multiple sites.
  • Excellent people management and leadership skills.
  • Good understanding of financials (P&L).
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Process Oriented, ability to lead changes, customer orientation.
  • Ability to define and communicate a long term vision.
  • Fluent in spoken and written English and French.
  • 5-10 years experience in a similar position in an industrial and multicultural environment.
  • Very good interpersonal skills and ability to influence others.
  • Independent, reliable and systematic.
The following requirements are desired and will be used to differentiate all candidates who apply for this position.
  • PhD preferred.

Routine (50%) travel to various R&D and scientific sites for BUNM and AREVA.
