Job Description
Public Service Enterprise Group (PSEG) is a publicly traded, diversified energy company with annual revenues of more than $11 billion. It has two major subsidiaries, Public Service Electric and Gas Company (PSE&G), an electric and gas delivery business, and PSEG Power, a generation business. Its headquarters is located in the downtown business district of Newark, which is about 10 miles west of New York City.

PSEG is seeking an Assistant Controller to establish and maintain standards, procedures and processes across PSE&G to ensure the timely and accurate supply of high quality financial information. The Assistant Controller is responsible for all aspects of the monthly financial close from the “Close the Books” process and takes a leadership role in all aspects of internal and external reporting.

Reporting directly to the Controller, the Assistant Controller maintains key advisory relationships with the President of PSE&G and his direct reports, business unit financial leaders and the tax team. The Assistant Controller takes the lead role in identifying, tailoring and defining emerging accounting issues into policies and procedures.

Responsibilities include:
Ensure the timely and effective implementation of financial processing and management reporting requirements from senior management, internal business units, external stakeholders and regulators.

Manage specific activities relating to: 1) development and maintenance of financial performance reporting; 2) financial statement consolidation for external reporting; 3) financial applications including the general ledger and fixed asset accounting; 4) development and maintenance of control standards.

Manage all regulatory accounting requirements of the FERC and the NJ BPU, including the maintenance of the FERC books of account and the preparation of the required monthly, quarterly and annual filings with the regulatory agencies.

Provide functional leadership for Controller Community (Business Units and Business Services) to continuously improve financial and management reporting and the development of personnel. Work closely with other Assistant Controllers on all aspects of the closing and reporting process and on all accounting issues impacting the businesses for which they are responsible.

Manage the appropriate resolution of issues raised by internal and external auditors, risk management and other parties as it relates to financial controls and compliance.

Effectively present to senior management and the Board of Directors.

Represent PSE&G on industry committees such as EEI, AGA and NJUA.

Required:
Bachelors Degree in Accounting or finance.
Combination of 10+ years in public or private accounting, including three or more years in a supervisory/managerial capacity.
Regulatory accounting; experience with ASC 980
Strong written and verbal communications.

MBA or CPA a plus.
