POSITION DESCRIPTION
AREVA Federal Services LLC, a subsidiary of AREVA, is seeking a Sr. I&C Engineer.
Senior I&C Engineer will report to the I&C Lead Engineer and be responsible for the instrument and controls design for a number of assigned process or utility systems. The Senior I&C Engineer is expected to be able to execute the required duties and activities with little technical direction from the I&C Lead Engineer. The Senior I&C Engineer is expected to work closely with the appropriate Responsible System Engineer, the assigned Integrated Safety Analysis personnel, the electrical design staff, and the other discipline engineers assigned to the same systems to complete the final I&C design documents with both the limits of the budget and schedule baseline. The Senior I&C Engineer is expected to be a positive influence on the I&C group and provide knowledge and leadership to assist less experienced personnel and the design staff. The position involves the ability to develop drawings of complex instrumentation and control schemes.
Responsibilities shall include development of the detailed design on to the project drawings. Design shall include P&ID development, instrument loop diagram development, instrument installation details, instrument plan and layout drawings, PLC wiring diagrams, miscellaneous installation drawings, bill of materials, wiring diagrams, and Instrument and Controls procurement specificaitons.
Responsibilities shall also include cross discipline review of design documents and interface with client, vendor, and other disciplines; reviewing work of fellow engineers; performing vendor submittal review and bid analysis; and coordination of design with other disciplines.
COMPANY DESCRIPTION
Shaw AREVA MOX Services, LLC is a consortium of companies based in Aiken, SC and formed to advance the Department of Energy's mission to dispose of surplus weapon grade plutonium. The plutonium is disposed of by mixing it with uranium and forming a mixed oxide (MOX) fuel for use in existing nuclear reactors. After the MOX fuel is irradiated in the reactor, the plutonium can no longer be used for nuclear weapons. AREVA Federal Services provides resources to MOX Services for the design, construction, licensing and operations of the MOX Fuel Fabrication Facility (MFFF) to be built at the Savannah River Site. Resources provided are in the following disciplines: Licensing, ES&H, Integrated Safety Analysis, QA, Engineering Assurance, Process Engineering, Systems Engineering, Design and Engineering (Structural, Electrical, I &C, Seismic, Nuclear Criticality, Piping, Mechanical, HVAC), Project Safety, Procurement, Project Controls, Software Design, Training, Records Management, Operations, and Information Technology.

All candidates must meet the following minimum requirements in order to be considered for this opportunity. Candidates who exceed minimum qualifications may be considered for a higher level position.
  • BS Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Must be familiar with PLC wiring and layout, instrument installation details, and instrument loop diagrams,
  • 10 to 20 years of I&C design experience on nuclear power plant projects.
  • Knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and appropriate IEEE standards
  • Basic computer skills in Word and Excel.
  • Capable of conceptualizing a design and generating detailed working drawings.
  • Knowledge of NRC regulations
  • Capable of directing designers and less senior engineers
  • Must demonstrate leadership and communications skills sufficiently to be able to take a lead role in the the interdiscipline design process
The following requirements are desired and will be used to differentiate all candidates who apply for this position.
  • Familiararity with Intergraph Intools or other similar I&C CAE program.
