Job Description

In this position you will perform technical services and planning for the 150MW Gas Turbine Combined Cycle Flynn Power Plant and the 50MW Brentwood Gas Turbine Power Plant.  You will maintain all electronic and electrical equipment such as motors, instruments, meters, recorders, relays, telemetering devices, supervisory and automatic control devices, radio equipment, computer systems and devices.  You will also maintain high voltage switchgear and switchyard power equipment.  In addition, you will work alone as Operator of Brentwood Plant. You will analyze complex technical problems and execute solutions.

Required Skills

• Extensive experience required in troubleshooting electrical and electronic components and systems. 
• Ability to maintain gas and steam turbine starting, excitation and control systems.
• Highly skilled in Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) development and implementation. 
• Experience in maintaining Local Area Network (LAN)/Wide Area Network (WAN) systems.
• Extensive experience in calibration of power plant instrumentation.
• Programming skills and knowledge of protective relaying schemes for new and existing relays/transducers/micro processor relays.
• Experience in maintaining Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS)
• Demonstrated ability to plan, multitask, prioritize and execute assignments.
• Ability to work independently and supervise technical contractors.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.

Required Experience

• Must have a 2 year degree in electronics/electrical engineering and 10 years experience working as a technician in related industry (utility experience preferred) or a minimum of 15 years experience as a technician in related industry (utility experience preferred).
• Valid NY State driver’s license required
• Ability to access all areas of the plant and conduct physical evaluations of grounds and equipment.  Must be able to climb and work at high elevations and be able to perform physically demanding work while wearing a respirator.
