Job Description
Temporary Meter Readers needed in Hackensack, Secaucus, Newark, and Trenton and surrounding New Jersey locations! Job description: This is a temporary position which requires the use of a PERSONAL VEHICLE on a daily basis. This position has NO MEDICAL BENEFITS. Selected candidates will be required to successfully complete background screening, driving history review and drug testing. The meter reader performs field work in connection with reading gas, electric and water meters and other related work. Duties include: safely reading and recording meter readings at customers’ premises; recording reasons for no-readings and recording any unusual conditions; resetting and resealing demand meters and meter enclosures as directed; reporting unusual and unsafe conditions to supervision in accordance with established procedures and reporting any emergency conditions immediately to supervision. Essential: Must have and maintain in good operating condition a motor vehicle for use in performing assigned duties. Must have a valid driver’s license. Must have poise and tact, as indicated by the ability to handle routine customer contacts in a pleasant and courteous manner. Must be neat and accurate in work. Must satisfactorily pass the Meter Reader Test. Desired: Experience with reading meters. Ability to read maps.
