Monticello Nuclear Generating Plant has a leadership opportunity for a Site Engineering Senior Manager. The Site Engineering Senior Manager will supervise three engineering groups, and will be responsible for all site engineering leadership in the absence of the Site Engineering Director. Monticello Nuclear Generating Plant is an INPO 1, single unit boiling water reactor, located about three miles northwest of Monticello, MN, and 40 miles northwest of the Twin Cities on the banks of the Mississippi River. Summary The Nuclear Site Engineering Senior Manager provides leadership and direction for engineering functions directly responsible for support of nuclear plant operation, maintenance, equipment reliability programs, and strategic planning for equipment performance improvement. This position will supervise the System Engineering, Equipment Reliability and Plant Engineering organizations. This position will be stationed at the site and will report to the Site Engineering Director - Nuclear. In the absence of the Site Engineering Director, this individual will normally be responsible for Site Engineering leadership. Responsibilities - Provide site leadership for identification and resolution of equipment reliability issues through the System Engineering organization. This responsibility includes establishing and reinforcing a vision for roles and responsibilities of engineers performing monitoring, trending and analysis of plant equipment performance to identify potential safety or generation challenges; and assuring that comprehensive plans for resolution of equipment issues and improvement of safety system reliability and availability are defined, documented in system health reports, and integrated with site work schedules, strategic and business plans, and O&M and capital budgets.
- Function as the Engineering leader interfacing with Operations, Maintenance and Production management to support day-to-day plant Operations and Maintenance including investigation of emergent equipment issues; support for equipment troubleshooting; and leadership in alignment of plant on-line and outage work schedules with equipment reliability and availability improvement plans.
- Provide leadership and oversight for Equipment Reliability programs and initiatives through the assigned Engineering Reliability group, including oversight for equipment failure analysis; development of long-range equipment reliability improvement plans; leadership of the Plant Health Committee; integration of equipment reliability efforts with site strategic and financial plans; and incorporation of industry experience and standards into the site equipment reliability plans.
- Provide leadership and work with site leadership to respond to and provide input on emergent station equipment and regulatory issues. Serve as the primary Site Engineering point of contact and leader for interface with Operations, Maintenance, Licensing and other site groups to provide required Engineering support of resolution of reliability, design, or regulatory issues challenging plant operation or regulatory compliance.
- Support development and management of the Engineering Department O&M and capital budget for equipment reliability improvements and support of plant operations and maintenance.
- Perform regular interface with industry groups including INPO, NRC, EPRI and other external organizations for development of standards for organizational performance of equipment reliability and system engineering activities. Work with industry groups to identify needed changes in performance by the site to address industry findings and initiatives in equipment reliability and performance, and to implement industry initiatives for program and process improvements.
- Provide leadership for Emergency Response Teams and facilities for preparation and response to plant events as part of site-specific ERO Duties assignment.
- Provide leadership for fleet equipment reliability and fleet operations through participation in peer groups, challenge reviews, and peer support for engineering and equipment reliability program improvements; resolution of nuclear fleet equipment, design and regulatory issues; and implementation of process and program improvements to support industry, corporate and department goals for equipment reliability, plant performance and production, and reliability and availability of critical plant equipment.
Required - BS degree in Engineering or other technical discipline
- 10 years commercial nuclear experience in operations, engineering, or maintenance
Preferred - 5 years supervisory and management experience desired
- PE license and SRO license/certification
