Job Description
I&C Engineer - Protection & Controls

SUMMARY
* Using prescribed methods, performs specific and limited portions of a broader assignment of an experienced protection and control and/or relay engineer.  
* Applies standard electrical engineering practices and techniques in the design, modification and proper operation of substation and switchyard instrumentation, control and protective relaying systems for Transmission and general facilities to include Fossil, Hydro and Nuclear Power generating stations.
* Applies standard electrical engineering practices and techniques to calculate relay settings, inputs data into computer software models used to check relay coordination, and checks prints used for dispatching.
* This is the entry level for professional work.  
* Performs assignments designed to develop professional knowledge and abilities, requiring application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out a sequence of related engineering tasks.  
* Limited exercise of judgment is required on details of work and in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
* Never supervises and may be assisted by the supervisor, other engineers, technicians or contractors.  

Supervision Received
* Higher level engineer screens assignments for unusual or difficult problems and selects techniques and procedures to be applied on non-routine work.  Receives close supervision on new aspects of assignments.

MINIMUM ELIGIBILITY FACTORS
* Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from an accredited curriculum, plus appropriate continuing education.  
* EIT Certificate desirable.

Local candidates and those with TVA experience may be preferred.
