Our Coal Supply department has a challenging opportunity for a Transportation Portfolio Coordinator in Denver, CO.

Summary

Under the direction of and in conjunction with the Transportation Portfolio Coordination Supervisor, will assist with daily transportation of solid fossil fuels from multiple suppliers to all power plants in the Xcel Energy system. Will provide the interface with rail transportation service providers and coal/solid fuel vendor mine origin, scheduling personnel in order to ensure delivery performance. Maintains the necessary communication with Xcel Energy generating personnel facilitating optimum scheduling of the coal unloading and delivery process. Will communicate effectively with others to ensure optimum staging of Xcel Energy railcar assists for periodic maintenance. Provides for the maintenance of electronic program tracking details of coal shipments to all power plants for Xcel Energy on a daily basis, ensuring the accuracy of the details entered.

Essential Responsibilities

• Detailed daily entry into the selected software system of all shipments to Xcel Energy plants. Ensures the accuracy of fuel commodity, fuel source/origination point, turn around times, trains and number of cars used, total tonnage, contract charges information, load detailed manifest into the system as well as the quality of each shipment.
  
• Assists with the development and implementation of coal delivery schedules to all Xcel Energy generating plants. Activities include contacting supplier origins, transportation carriers and destinations to locate shipments to assure timely arrivals at the generating plants and insures the fuel quality in each delivery is acceptable to satisfy destination plant operating requirements.
  
• Assists with software updates facilitating the coal delivery process: i.e. new origination points, extension of existing contracts, create and update import file mappings.
  
• Works with Energy Supply personnel and railroads/vendors to resolve any disputed information/data, issues and/or disputes.
  
• Facilitates the collection and dissemination of transportation and fuel related data to Xcel Energy stakeholders and regulatory agencies
  
• Other relevant activities as assigned.
  

• High school diploma
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Business (6 years related experience may substitute for the degree)
• 3 years commercial operations experience
• Railroad and transportation logistical knowledge
• Demonstrated abilities in the use of complex software applications

• Commercial Operations experience in a utility environment
