Job Description

Job Title:  SGS Senior Engineer (with emphasis on electrical engineering)

Position Summary:  To provide complex engineering services to assist in attaining the goals of plant reliability, efficiency, safety and environmental compliance established by Seminole management in the most cost effective manner.

Minimum Requirements:

Education:          A Bachelor’s Degree Engineering or equivalent training and education.  Registration as a Professional Engineer is preferred.

 

Experience:        Eight (8) years of experience in large, modern power plants dealing with design, construction, operation and maintenance of power plant systems.  Experience must include the development of detailed technical specifications, detailed economic studies, evaluations and analysis or complex engineering problems.

 

Knowledge

Skills and

Abilities:              Must have a thorough knowledge of power plant design, maintenance, and operations so that effective evaluations can be conducted.  Must have a working knowledge of standard power plant specifications, construction practices, and operating procedures. Must be capable of effectively directing and coordinating multiple activities associated with power plant design, operation and maintenance.  Must be able to direct department engineers in design studies related to process equipment or systems.  Must be an effective communicator.  Must have the ability to recognize a problem and proceed to a solution by analyzing and recommending options.  Must be able to recognize and recommend actions to avoid future problems and meet cooperative goals.  Mustbe able to cope with stress and function with good judgment in emergency situations, as well as long term.

 

Working

Conditions:         Generally accepted office conditions.  Occasional overtime as required will be worked. Requires working in all areas of the plant with its associated extreme temperatures, inclement weather, high noise levels, working heights and dusty or dirty conditions.  Must wear a hard hat and safety glasses.  May be required to use other personal protective equipment such as hearing and respiratory protection.  Requires entry into major process equipment such as all areas of main boiler.  FGD System, main condenser and confined areas such as the coal ball mills, feedwater heaters, and steam and water vessels for inspection and evaluation.  Must be able to effectively utilize catwalks and ascend/descend portable and stationary ladders.  Must be capable of working effectively from heights of 250 feet.  Must be able to safely lift a minimum of 50 lbs. of weight.  Must be capable of effectively using a computer, terminal, telephone and two-way radio.
