Xcel Energy is looking for a Civil/Structural Designer I to work with engineering design in the Generation business area located in Amarillo, TX. The successful candidate must be familiar with basic & common civil & structural design practices. In addition, this role will perform site walk-downs including system/equipment verifications. Summary Under guidance from project engineering, architectural, or technical services staff, assist in the planning, design and development of construction drawings for various projects. Provide field support including field verifications for retrofit applications, as-built documentation, on-site procurement, and installation supervision. Provide direction to drafters as required to complete design assignments and review work for accuracy and completeness. Essential Responsibilities

Required Must have 6 years experience in engineering drafting and design practices, in addition to educational requirements. Demonstrate the ability to effectively utilize various computerized design/drafting software applications according to project requirements. Knowledge of AutoCAD and MicroStation is essential. Demonstrate the ability to produce complex engineering drawings in a 2-D or a 3-D environment. Basic knowledge of IBM PC's including Windows operating system. Thorough working knowledge of Windows based e-mail and other software applications such as word processors, databases, and spreadsheets. Valid drivers license. May require travel to plant/job sites. May require overtime hours.
Preferred Ability to gather project development information in the field using conventional survey instruments, and a working knowledge of GPS surveying is desirable. Working skill in MicroStation GeoPak and/or AutoCad Civil 3D is desirable. | |
