The AREVA Front End Business Group:
The Front End Business Group combines activities associated with the conversion and enrichment of uranium and with the design and fuel production for nuclear reactors. The production capacities of the Group, one of the world's leaders in the sector, are undergoing modernization.
Ceramic Operations:
Ceramic Operations is where incoming powder is manufactured into finished uranium pellets ready to be loaded into fuel rods. There are four steps in Ceramics processing: pressing, sintering, grinding, and inspection. Ceramics makes four basic pellet types used in both PWR and BWR reactors: UO2, BLEU, UO2-Gd2O3, and Burnable Poison Pellets. For the last two pellet types, Ceramics also performs the powder blending and preparation steps. Ceramic Operations is comprised of approximately 70 people working in the UO2 building, the Specialty Fuels building, and the BPP facility.
Job Description:
AREVA is seeking a Manufacturing Technician I for our Ceramic Operations in Richland, WA.
Responsibilities and duties include:
  • May perform portions of work center activities in conjunction with higher grade technicians or direct Supervision.
  • May perform basic operation of pellet press.
  • May perform basic operation of grinder.
  • May perform basic pellet inspection activities.
  • Move material and product in the work area by proper handling method.
  • Keep work area and equipment clean and orderly.
  • Perform job duties in a safe manner.
  • Will be required to work around radioactive and/or corrosive chemicals and must be able and willing to wear the appropriate personal protective equipment including respiratory protection when required.
All candidates must meet the following minimum requirements in order to be considered for this opportunity. Candidates who exceed minimum qualifications may be considered for a higher level position.
  • High School diploma or GED and 3 months to 3 years of Experience.
  • Must be able to work rotating shifts in an operation that runs 24/7.
  • Must possess mechanical aptitude.
  • Must be able to perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Must possess basic computer skills.
The following requirements are desired and will be used to differentiate all candidates who apply for this position.
  • Ability to work effectively in a Team environment.
  • Manufacturing experience, preferably at AREVA's Horn Rapids Road facility.
TRAVEL
Generally not required to travel, but could be asked to travel to support special projects.
