THIS IS A PROJECT POSITION: 3 to 5 years in duration (defined employment start and termination dates) which carries certain Benefit Limitations, i.e., no separation benefits. Director level approval and waiver required to bid on other PSEG opportunities and not eligible to bid on any new opportunities until the last 12 months of the defined employment assignment. Note: There are multiple positions available. The successful candidate could be assigned to one of the following areas based on experience and business needs: Electric Controls Designer: Electrical Controls Designer for Switching and Substations in Project Engineering and Design Group within the Electric and Gas Asset Strategy Organization. Key responsibilities include the development of one line controls diagram with tripping table and all the detailed schematics and wiring drawings based on them for switching and substations 69 kV thru 500 kV. Major job duties include: preparation of schematics, wiring diagrams; development & design of relay protection schematics, SCADA drawings, relay rack arrangements and wiring, AC & DC power distribution drawings and other miscellaneous control circuits. These control designs are critical for the successful construction and operation of substation major equipment, including power transformers, circuit breakers, circuit switchers, CCVT’s, wave traps, station batteries, etc Civil Designer: Civil Designer for Switching and Substations in Project Engineering and Design Group within the Electric and Gas Asset Strategy Organization. In conjunction with electrical plan/profile and general arrangement drawings, create site preparation drawings with associated design calculations for new and upgraded facilities to include soil erosion/sediment control measures, site clearing and stripping, cut/fill, perimeter fence/gates, drainage/storm water management, internal and external access driveways, structural support systems (piles/concrete/steel frames) for all electrical equipment, bus, etc., transformer secondary containment, water/sewer lines, rough/ finish grading and surfacing. Review and apply geotechnical recommendations based on site conditions, verify civil work with electrical and vendor drawings, and provide design support during construction. Review and comment on civil/structural/environmental layout packages prepared by A-E firms with a focus on compliance with PSE&G standards, operational needs and safety. Off-hours availability to assist with emergency equipment/structure replacement work and system restoration. Electrical Layout Designer: Electrical Layout Designer for Switching and Substations in Project Engineering and Design Group within the Electric and Gas Asset Strategy Organization. Key responsibilities include the development of station plan & profile drawings (conceptual, general & details) based on electrical one-lines for switching and substations 69 kV thru 500 kV. Major job duties include: preparation of plan & profile and general arrangement drawings; development of manhole, handhole, bus and station grounding details; trench and conduit plans & sections; control house equipment layout and station lighting; conceptual and ultimate station development plans. Also the selection and detail development of the materials (B.O.M.) required to connect major substation equipment, including transformers, circuit breakers, disconnect switches, CCVT’s, wave traps, bus & connectors. Review and comment on electrical layout packages prepared by A-E firms and equipment vendor drawings with a focus on compliance with PSE&G standards, operational needs and safety. Off-hours availability to assist with emergency equipment replacement work and system restoration. Required: • B.S in Engineering or equivalent experience • Must have at least 3 to 5 years of switching and substation layout design experience in the electrical Utility industry. • Good working knowledge of Micro station/CAD software for development of construction drawings and familiarity with engineering and design standards. • Must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to interface with many other disciplines in order to develop reliable and safe layout design. • Must have a valid drivers license • Must foster an inclusive work environment and respects all aspects of diversity • Must demonstrate and value differences in others' strengths, perspectives, approaches, and personal choices | |
