Job Description
Cherokee Station, a large coal fired power plant which has several major projects occurring over the next four years including the installation of a 2X1 combined cycle plant, has a challenging opening for an Engineering and Construction (E&C) Engineer II, III or Senior. In this role, you will be responsible for being the plant liaison between E&C and the Cherokee Plant staff. You will support E&C by working with the plant on capital project development and justification (scoping out projects, developing the justification for the project, and developing the project cost estimate and schedule). You will also be responsible for supporting E&C in capital projects that are approved. This could involve design review, material procurement, construction oversight, and startup of a new system or plant.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Assigned specific projects to complete under the direction of an experienced engineer. Responsible for following project responsibilities as defined for the assigned project position.
  • Assists technical service personnel in proper execution of drawings.
  • Maintains a thorough, current knowledge of new and innovative techniques in the engineering field.
  • May serve as a representative of the company when participating in check-out, start-up, and tests of new or retrofitted systems under supervision of the field engineering staff or assigned supervisor.
  • Comprehensive understanding of company policies, procedures and financial obligations that would apply to projects.
  • Competent with standard server software applications such as e-mail, spreadsheet, word processing, database, etc. Familiar with CADD applications.

Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from ABET accredited curriculum (equivalency to an ABET accredited degree would be recognized by ABET as having "substantial equivalency" or through a "mutual recognized agreement")
  • 2 years engineering related experience in power plant operation, maintenance, construction, or design
  • Occasional periods of field/office work entailing travel
  • Will be required to work in an office, on a construction site, as well as an industrial plant environment
  • Degree in the following disciplines will be considered: Mechanical Engineer, Instrument and Controls Engineer, Chemical Engineer, or Electrical Engineer.
