Job Description
Xcel Energy has the need to hire a Sr. Technical Instructor to work out of the Denver metro area. Substation journeyman or engineering experience and training experience preferred. Areas of focus include, but are not limited to NERC/FERC standards training requirements for journeymen and apprentices in the areas of substation construction and maintenance and system protection. Assistance in the development of the training as well as full delivery to identified field personnel.
Summary
Provide training in technical fields including topics of energy delivery. Utilize the ADDIE process (analysis, design, development, implementation, evaluation) to develop and maintain training materials per the Training Process Procedures (TPP). Design instruments and perform statistical analysis to quantitatively and qualitatively evaluate effectiveness. Position may require extended periods of time at the customer site. Manage training programs. Coordinate apprenticeship programs within regions.
Essential Responsibilities
  • Implement ADDIE process to deliver training, and adhere to records management requirements.
  • Provide oversight and work direction for apprenticeship programs, continuing technical training, and instructional staff.
  • Perform technical and process improvement consulting.
  • Meet continuing technical and instructional requirements by adhering to Training Process Procedures.
  • Coordinate special training events.
  • Fully utilize business processes (scorecard, marketing strategies, manufacturing-analysis, design, development, delivery and evaluation) project management, and daily management.
  • Consult with customer to identify business needs and objectives. Provide customer contact for all training services, products and programs.
  • Design and maintain effective testing instruments and perform statistical analysis to quantitatively and qualitatively evaluate overall effectiveness, cost benefit and ultimate bottom line impact of the training/consulting product or service provided.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree (6 years of related experience may substitute for the degree)
  • 5 years of related experience
  • Knowledge and practice of Substation, Transmission and Distribution
  • Knowledge and practice of OSHA/safety procedures
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office suite
