Looking for an exciting opportunity in the nuclear industry? "Energize" your future with AREVA! AREVA NP, Inc., a subsidiary of AREVA, is seeking candidates interested in the CVCC Tech program. POSITION DESCRIPTION As a part of the CVCC Tech program with AREVA, you will be deployed to nuclear sites around the country during outage season in support of various Nuclear Services product lines. During non-outage season, you will attend classes at Central VA Community College as a student in the Associates of Nuclear Support Technologies degree program. Working under immediate supervision in a team-based environment, you will rely on instruction and pre-established procedures or guidelines to perform your job The position requires a mature, safety conscious individual who is willing to work in a radiological controlled environment, wearing anti-contamination suits in confined spaces and hot temperatures for 10 - 12 hour shifts, six days a week for weeks at a time at each site. You must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, bend, stoop, and remain standing for long periods of time. You must also be familiar with the company's safety and health policy and program. Travel at least 75% of the time can be expected. While most outage work is planned well in advance, emergent customer issues may require deployment to nuclear plant sites with little or no advance notice. You must be eighteen (18) years of age to qualify for this position and you must be able to work effectively in team-based environments. This position is primarily targeted towards current residents of the Central Virginia region. Candidates from outside of Central Virginia will be considered, however relocation will not be provided. Candidates are responsible for their own housing and transportation in Lynchburg during classes, training or other work related activities. The starting salary for this position is a non-negotiable rate of $11.50 an hour. While deployed to plant sites, expenses will be covered by AREVA's normal business/travel policies. Under close supervision, this position is responsible for routine installation, repair, preventative maintenance and testing of tools and equipment at customer sites. Follow blueprints and instructions utilizing knowledge of specific tools, equipment and components. May be required to work around radioactice and/or corrosive chemicals and to wear appropiate protective equipment.
