AREVA Solar:
AREVA offers turnkey solutions for concentrated solar (CSP) technologies. AREVA's experience in thermal technology and fluid mechanics is well adapted to the concentrated solar power market. Today, the EPC services needed to establish a ready-to-operate CSP plant are fully integrated in AREVA's technology offer.
AREVA Solar is a new product line of AREVA Renewables and is currently pursuing opportunities in the Indian market. AREVA Solar's product is a solar steam generator (boiler) that is scalable in 2.5 MWe (7.5 MWt) increments. Primary applications for the steam generators are:
  • Steam boosters (producing steam to augment existing power plants)
  • Steam for industrial applications
  • Power generation (stand-alone) larger 50MWe - preferably 100 MWe. We offer equipment sales (OEM model) or turn-key facilities through local or regional developers or directly to utilities, IPPs or industrial customers.
Job description :
AREVA Solar is seeking a VP, Supply Management to be located in Mumbai or Delhi, India.
The VP, Supply Management, AREVA Solar, will develop and manage a supply management organization for the manufacturing and installation of solar steam generators and standalone solar steam power plants. The position will coordinate with AREVA Corporate Purchasing and BG Central organization to leverage buying power and skill sets and be an integral part of the new product introduction process to achieve the best value for money solutions to the product manufacturability and material sourcing aspects of the business. Responsibilities will include both domestic and international projects and supplier base taking into account both value as contractual requirements for local content.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
The position reports operationally to Doug Pitts, BU Solar Chief Industrial officer, and functionally to Matthieu Euvrard, VP Global Supply Management BG Renewables, for the activity.
Global Supply Management function provides an essential contribution to the financial performance of the Solar Business Unit. By pooling the requirements, identifying and negotiating with the best supply sources worldwide our businesses become more competitive, helping to reach commercial and financial objectives.
Supply Management also plays a key role in controlling supplier risks. The success of our projects and the satisfaction of our customers depend on our suppliers' ability to meet quality, cost and on time delivery objectives.

The Solar Supply Management Department is responsible for various aspects of acquisitions of all goods and services of the related activity covering whole supply chain process: purchasing, procurement, expediting, inbound logistics, and supplier development.
The qualified individual will have the capabilities to perform the following tasks:
  • Provide functional leadership for the supply management activities of AREVA Solar.
  • Develop a global supply hub in India.
  • Manage and control the overall supply-chain including sourcing, development of a global supply-chain capable of international execution, supplier relationship management, bidding, proposal evaluation, negotiation with suppliers to meet cost, quality and project delivery requirements, purchasing, expediting and inspection coordination, contract management, site procurement, logistics and transportation, vendor claims and warranty issues.
  • Negotiate pricing and delivery to meet cost, quality and project delivery requirements, capture values and reduce risks.
  • Drive Lowest Total Cost initiatives and continuous cost reduction program.
  • Provide Design For Manufacturability perspective to the product design team to drive cost avoidance upfront rather than cost reduction later.
  • Develop, implement and enforce the appropriate policies, processes and procedures to effectively carry out its mission, framed within the AREVA Group guidelines.
  • Deliver supply chain services to the projects in accordance with the procurement scope, schedule and budget defined by the Project Department.
  • Hire, train, manage and develop a Team of Supply Management professionals.
  • Define the yearly budget and performance plans and realize the yearly performance objectives.
  • Generate monthly reports and forecasts on cost reduction, supply base improvement and other key performance indicators.
  • Enforce supplier compliance with Company standards, requirements and AREVA values.
  • Support sales efforts as relates to Supply Management.
All candidates must meet the following minimum requirements in order to be considered for this opportunity. Candidates who exceed minimum qualifications may be considered for a higher level position.
  • Master's Degree preferred in a related field, Procurement certification is a plus
  • 15 years in a Purchasing Management role, with international sourcing and supply experiences
  • Background in EPC projects, Manufacturing, Construction and/or Operations.
  • Experience in LEAN, Six Sigma, and/or TPS
  • ERP experience (SAP preferred)
  • MS Office skills must include Excel, PowerPoint, Word.
  • Ability to travel within India and internationally, and handle short term assignments outside the local area
  • Ability to manage an international workforce
  • Understanding of the service relationship with Solar's project teams and corporate governance requirements - strong teaming skills

  • Experience working in "startup" and established corporate environments.
  • Multilingual (English a necessity; French, Spanish, German are a plus).
  • Has a "hands-on" approach: proven experience that shows candidate is willing to jump in to perform detailed tasks

  • Experience in purchasing and supply chain management in the renewable energy industry.
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Proven commitment to quality and safety.
  • Well-developed communications skills in written, oral and presentation formats.
  • Project/goal-oriented focus.
  • Strong internal customer service attitude to support multiple competing requests from projects, manufacturing and construction groups.
  • Ability to work in matrix multinational organization with multi-axis reporting.
  • Good technical and contractual knowledge to enable the candidate to understand and communicate with different groups, including engineering, suppliers, contractors, QA/QC, etc.
