Job Description
This is a multi-level position; the title and grade level assigned to the successful candidate will be determined by assessing skills and related experience, based upon results from the interview process.

Electric Delivery Planning seeks to recruit a highly motivated candidate who demonstrates a strong commitment to excellence and understands the vital importance of personal accountability. Work functions include power system simulation studies to determine the feasibility and scope for proposed transmission and distribution projects, Subtransmission reinforcements and 69-kv network enhancements. Performs technical and economic studies to evaluate Substation, Switching Station and Subtransmission load relief alternatives including the addition of capacitors, transformers or load transfers and establishes the need for new Substations and Switching Stations. Prepares an annual ten year Substation and Switching Station load forecast and defines long-term system plans and load relief programs. Guides and trains others when so directed. Reviews construction budgets for Subtransmission and Substation load relief projects and performs engineering analysis to evaluate the timing of system reinforcements to ensure the reliability and economic operation of the transmission and distribution power system. Performs reasonably complex power system engineering studies to determine the transmission and distribution system limitations (thermal, voltage, and short-circuit) and analyzes potential operating limitations and develops operating procedures to guide system operators.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Requires a working knowledge of power flow and short circuit analysis concepts.
• Knowledge of Substation, Switching Station and Subtransmission Planning.
• Must have fundamental knowledge and understanding of power engineering principles, including the utilization of analytical tools commonly used to analyze the performance of electrical systems.
• Must have knowledge of utility industry related tools, such as proficiency with MS Office products, PSS/E Load Flow analysis, Short Circuit analysis (ASPEN) and a working understanding of database applications.
• Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills are required.
• Must have the ability to understand and prepare one-line diagrams.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.

Desirable:

• MS in Electrical Engineering.
• PE License.
• Knowledge of the PJM and neighboring bulk power systems.
