The AREVA Front End Business Group:
The Front End Business Group combines activities associated with the conversion and enrichment of uranium and with the design and fuel production for nuclear reactors. The production capacities of the Group, one of the world's leaders in the sector, are undergoing modernization.
The Richland Thermal Hydraulics Department:
The Richland Thermal Hydraulics department is responsible for supporting the licensing and operation of AREVA fuels in commercial reactors. Within this scope, the department develops steady-state, transient and accident methodologies and computer codes and applies them to the licensing of BWR fuel. The department also supports the design and development of advanced fuel designs and supports developing solutions for emerging industry issues. To achieve this charter, the department is composed of multiple customer focused teams supported by the Codes & Methods Development team.
Job Description:
AREVA is seeking a Supervisor, Codes and Methods Development. This qualified individual will supervise a team of developers of computer codes and methodology used for safety analyses in support of AREVA NP fuel in boiling water reactors (BWRs).
Responsibilities and duties include:
  • Involvement in multiple aspects of the software development process including methodology conceptualization.
  • Preparation of development proposals.
  • Interacting with regulators and customers on the approval and use of methods.
  • Coordination of development activities with global partners.
  • Resource planning, management and reporting.
  • Work force development and participation in performance feedback.
All candidates must meet the following minimum requirements in order to be considered for this opportunity. Candidates who exceed minimum qualifications may be considered for a higher level position.
  • BS in Engineering (Nuclear, Mechanical or Chemical or other scientific degree with relevant industry experience) plus 7 years of related experience.
The following requirements are desired and will be used to differentiate all candidates who apply for this position.
  • Familiarity with software development and and application of reactor core and system analysis codes (such as RELAP, TRAC, TRACE, RETRAN).
  • Previous experience related to Boiling Water Reactor (BWR) analysis or operation is highly preferable.
  • Previous experience supervising engineering teams.
  • Previous project planning and management.
  • Experience defending modified or new methods with the NRC/ACRS.
  • Multi-lingual (English, French, German, Chinese, or Japanese).
TRAVEL
Sporadic (<5%) domestic and international travel.
