Responsible for providing supervision and oversight for fossil generating station environmental compliance programs. Assesses legislative and regulatory initiatives and their compliance and economic implications on the fleet. Identifies and assesses the applicability of emerging environmental control technologies for their value. Provides technical environmental support to operations, maintenance, project planning, development, engineering, and construction. Implements environmental strategies. Supports and provides oversight to station management in implementing and integrating plans, programs, and technology improvements with station operations to achieve cost-effective compliance and environmental performance. Tracks fleet environmental performance to identify areas for improvement. Sets the expectations for preventative and corrective actions to be implemented across the fleet for improved environmental performance. RESPONSIBILITIES: • Resource management: Provide technical expertise to the business planning and resource allocation processes to ensure resources are sufficient to address compliance strategies across the fleet and meet required regulatory deadlines. Provide direction across the business in understanding the costs of their environmental compliance requirements and in scoping and providing funding for environmental projects, in-house and third party services, and fleet-wide compliance programs. • Engineering and construction technical expertise: Perform environmental analyses of capital and O&M projects. Provide technical environmental support for capital and O&M projects across the fleet from their inception forward throughout their planning, development, engineering, construction, startup, compliance testing and certification, and turnover. • Plant operations environmental oversight: Provide centralized oversight and direction to Station Senior Environmental Engineers in developing action plans to achieve environmental goals and in implementing compliance strategies, programs, processes, technologies, etc. Supervise station Sr. Environmental Engineers, including developing performance expectations, providing feedback and preparing performance reviews. • Environmental Strategy implementation: Develop strategies to minimize the capital and operational impacts of regulatory initiatives and achieve compliance targets. Develop deployment strategies for generation and emissions control projects.dvocate the interests of stations to PSEG policy makers, legislators, and regulators. Provide fleet-wide support and direction in conducting self-assessments of generating units and compliance systems. REQUIRED: BS in engineering discipline or environmental science, 5-10 years experience in power generation or related industry and management experience. | |
