Job Description:
AREVA Solar is seeking a Project Control Manager.
Project Contract Manager is responsible for the overall coordination and management of contractual matters related to the contracts of the project, i.e. with the Customer, Co-contractors, Subcontractors and Suppliers. This is done in close collaboration with Legal Department and with the support of the project team, with the objective in performing this role is to protect, and where possible improve, the financial performance of the project.
Position in the organization
Organizational Reporting:
  • The Project Contract Manager reports operationally to the Project Director and hierarchically to the Contract Management Department Director. Depending upon the scope of the project, and the contracting and organizational structures put in place there may be separate Project Contract Managers to handle the Customer, Co-contractors and Subcontractors and Supplier relationships or else one Manager may cover multiple relationships. Regardless of such arrangement the principles set out herein remain unaltered.
Network & Links:
Customer representatives, co-contractors representatives, subcontractors & suppliers representatives, consortium team, all the members of the project team and functional departments (Legal, Tax, Export Finance, Insurance).
Mission
Project Launch:
  • Ensure that project tools and procedures enable an execution of the project compliant with contractual requirements, protect AREVA entitlements, and enable tracking all parties' obligations and the compliance therewith.
  • Prepare any necessary project specific contract management procedures.
  • Become fully familiar and master all of the contract documents and organize the transfer and introduction to the contract (Contract Workshop, Contract Readings, Contract Summary).
  • Support the initiation of the subcontracting of suppliers.
Project Execution:
  • Provide interpretation and clarifications of the contractual documents.
  • Requirements management: clarify and advise on contractual obligations (for AREVA and other parties), follow up their fulfillment, ensure that no additional work/expenses beyond contractual obligations is committed without appropriate identification, approval, monitoring and control.
  • Assist the Senior Project Managers (SPM) in the management of their respective scopes with the perspective of:
    • Ensuring that AREVA's entitlements are identified preserved and enforced.
    • Managing and minimizing AREVA's contractual risks.
    • Making the best use of contractual opportunities.
  • Manage the contractual relationship with Customer and Consortium partners.
  • Manage the Integrated Change Control Process
  • Contract change management: define, for the whole project (Customer, Consortium, subsuppliers), the
  • contract change policy and related internal process, and maintain an overall view on these changes. Coordinate the preparation and negotiate, with Senior Project Manager or Project Manager, the contract changes related to upstream Contract and Consortium Agreement, and participate in significant changes with suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Claim management: define, for the whole project (Customer, Consortium, sub-suppliers), the claim policy and related internal process, and maintain an overall view on these claims, prepare, submit and pursue claims (with Senior Project Manager and/or Project Managers and/or Procurement) against third parties and defend against claims received from third parties against AREVA.
  • Contribute to project risk & opportunity management process.
  • Write or validate correspondence or other documents being sent to third parties if they are contract-related or bear contractual stakes.
  • With respect to sub-suppliers:
    • Together with Legal department, support Purchasing in preparing the standard conditions of purchase for the project.
    • Support the preparation of invitation to tender (if specific contractual matters) and the negotiation and evaluation of tenders (in particular in case of deviations to standard conditions of purchase).
    • Support the management of contracts with sub-suppliers, in particular when contract specific or significant subjects arise.
    • Support the management of claims, and in the issuance of major changes.
    • Organize the passing of the effects of changes and claims to/from the Purchaser to/from the sub-supplier.
  • Provide, maintain and control contract documents throughout the project life.
  • Spread and maintain contract awareness among the project team.
  • Coordinate insurance claims.
Warranty and Project Closeout:
  • Participate in the evaluation of warranty claims from the Customer and the application of warranty entitlements vis-à-vis suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Ensure that final accounts are prepared and documented, taking part in the final negotiation of outstanding items; ensuring that all outstanding work has been finalized, all commercial matters are settled etc.

General:

  • Ensure a return of experience on contract management throughout the project lifecycle.
All candidates must meet the following minimum requirements in order to be considered for this opportunity. Candidates who exceed minimum qualifications may be considered for a higher level position.
  • BS or MS Eng.
  • 7-10 years experience in Project and/or Contract Management
The following requirements are desired and will be used to differentiate all candidates who apply for this position.
  • MBA a plus.
TRAVEL
Routine travel between Kogan Creek Construction site and Brisbane office. Some travel to visit vendors and contractors.
