The AREVA Front End Business Group:
The Front End Business Group combines activities associated with the conversion and enrichment of uranium and with the design and fuel production for nuclear reactors. The production capacities of the Group, one of the world's leaders in the sector, are undergoing modernization.
Job Description:
AREVA is seeking a Manufacturing Technician for our Richland, WA location.
Responsibilities and duties include:
  • Performs intermediate level equipment and tooling set up
  • Intermediate level parts preparation.
  • Receives work orders, initiates route cards, and verifies part numbers and quantities.
  • Performs intermediate level assembly, cleaning (pickling and etching with HF, Nitric acid, etc.), and fabrication
  • operations.
  • Intermediate level inspection and production machine operation, such as guide tube flaring, pellet loader, laser ID machine, x-ray machine, TIG & Laser welder, etc.
  • Responsible for accurate preparation of records and document entries.
  • May perform more advanced preventive maintenance tasks including replacement of wear items and component adjustment, assist in troubleshooting equipment and malfunctions.
  • May work from drawings, specifications, procedures, SWIs, electronic data, and written and verbal instructions.
  • May set up and perform the dimensional and visual inspections on any component.
  • Recognizes and communicates problems; creates deviation/variation notice, as appropriate.
  • May calibrate production inspection equipment, as needed, using calibration procedure, as applicable.
  • May set up, mix, mold, and bake non-uranium bearing burnable poison pellets.
  • May perform intermediate operation of oven - load and unload non-uranium bearing material, perform
  • adjustments and basic troubleshooting, preoperative checks prior to operation and during cycle.
  • Move material and product in the work area by proper handling method.
  • Keeps work area and equipment clean and orderly.
  • During lull periods of production, may be required to travel to nuclear sites and/or other product centers.
  • Properly handles hazardous materials.
  • Performs job duties in a safe manner.
  • Utilizes the principles of Lean Manufacturing.
  • Work duties may require alternate shift assignments.
  • To play an active role in creating a safe and healthy workplace and comply with all applicable safety and health rules.
  • Performs handwork on components such as assembly , deburring or polishing.
All candidates must meet the following minimum requirements in order to be considered for this opportunity. Candidates who exceed minimum qualifications may be considered for a higher level position.
  • Manufacturing Tech I: Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent and 0-3 years of related experience.
  • Manufacturing Tech II: Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent and 2-5 years of related experience.
  • Familiar with standard concepts, practices and procedures pertaining to position.
  • Demonstrate ability to read & understand basic drawings, oral & written instructions, and setup instruction.
  • Demonstrate ability to properly plan, perform calculations.
  • Demonstrated ability to use / interpret advanced shop inspection tools and manually record/computer input associated data.
  • Must possess mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Must possess basic computer skills.
The following requirements are desired and will be used to differentiate all candidates who apply for this position.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds, bend, stoop, and remain standing for long periods of time.
  • Ability to read drawings.
  • Familiar with the company's safety and health policy and program.
