Job Description
The Xcel Energy nuclear power plant at Monticello is currently seeking at Production Manager. This position has overall responsibility for management of the
site production planning department. The primary responsibilities are to provide leadership for enhanced outage performance and continuous improvement of the
work management process. Monticello Nuclear Generating Plant is an INPO 1, single unit boiling water reactor, located about three miles northwest of Monticello, MN, and 40 miles northwest of the Twin Cities on the banks of the Mississippi River.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
1) Coordinate production planning resources to direct efficient and effective use of site
resources to improve equipment reliability
2) Owner of Work Management Process and responsible for its proper implementation
and execution to support equipment reliability and plant needs
3) Manage all refueling, planned, and forced outages
4) Develop and implement station long-range planning
5) Develop and oversee department budget
6) Provide department resource planning to maintain high efficiency within the
department
7) Direct the development and maintenance of Production Planning Department
performance indicators
8) Identify training needs for production planning
9) Develop tools to maintain plant management cognizant of daily work and outage
preparation/implementation status
10) Work with personnel on career development and enhancement
Participate in plant management functions, such as Site Excellence Plan, Operational
Review Committee, Emergency Response Team, Plant Health Committee, and Project
Review Board.
11) Supports the ongoing operations of the fleet and is jointly accountable with fleet
personnel for the fleet meeting its excellence plan.

Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or related technical field desired or equivalent experience. Senior Reactor Operator License or Certification desired. Outage and/or On-Line management experience in a commercial nuclear setting. Twelve years nuclear power experience; at least five years in daily project or
outage scheduling. Five years supervisory experience, preferably in Operations.
Must live within 60 minutes to ensure proper implementation of Emergency Response plan.
A condition of employment will be successfully obtaining and maintaining General Security Clearance and a Nuclear Security Clearance for unescorted access to Xcel Energy nuclear plants including successful completion of nuclear General Access Training (GAT) and the nuclear security screening process (typically consists of an alcohol/drug screen, a criminal history check, a psychological assessment, initial credit and background investigation and periodic credit & criminal history checks).
