Overview: Consult clients on the design, development, enhancement and maintenance of custom SAP programs and modules to support the SAP Human Capital Management (HCM) Portal, BW and/or SAP R/3 systems. Responsibilities: Essential Duties/Responsibilities: - Provide applications development and enhancement functions, including analysis, design, coding, testing, and object transports using SAP’s ABAP/4 Development Workbench.
- With limited supervision, work with SAP functional analysts and Operations business analysts to formalize specifications for custom development.
- With limited supervision, design and implement technical solutions for conversions, interfaces, enhancements, reports, forms and workflows using BDCs, call transactions, user exits, bolt-ons, standard data transfer, dialog programming, SAPScript, etc.
- Keep supervisor or team lead informed of significant cross-team, cross-functional issues and/or significant technical challenges as appropriate. Proactively work to solve these issues while including the key functional and/or business stakeholders.
- Analysis and prototyping of new custom solutions, or new requirements for existing custom solutions.
- Provide guidance/instruction to off-shore or external resources in the following activities:
- Enforce GenOn SAP ABAP Development Standards.
- Review and approve preliminary technical design of custom applications.
- Approve SAP transports to SAP Production instance for all ABAP objects by reviewing ABAP object code and overall functionality of the developed custom applications.
- Attend Knowledge Transfer sessions for all custom work developed prior release of their duties from the projects.
- Knowledge of the HR module and HR business processes.
With limited supervision, develop custom solutions using customized transactions and user exits to provide additional functionality not available within standard SAP. - Develop and support ABAP/4 Batch Job Scheduling.
- Document and perform unit, string, integration, and regression testing in support of new implementations and releases.
- Provide production support for SAP sub-processes/sub-modules supporting corporate clients and retail markets, occasionally after normal work hours.
Qualifications: Education: Bachelor’s degree in an accredited four-year college or university or equivalent work experience. - Excellent troubleshooting and problem resolution skills required.
- Proficient in MS Office applications, Adobe Acrobat, Internet Explorer, MS Outlook
- Excellent oral and written communication skills are required in order to provide appropriate client support and interaction.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
- Works effectively in a team environment.
- Works well under pressure, remaining focused and calm in the face of distractions and changing priorities. Ability to prioritize workload.
- In depth knowledge of SAP’s ABAP/4 programming language, workflow, IDOC, ALE, and SAP Scripts.
- Must have excellent technical writing skills to develop functional and technical specifications.
- Must be able to code application components to specifications using applicable technology standards.
- Demonstrated ability with the Systems Delivery Life Cycle
- SAP Portal, BW and or R/3 modules such as FI, MM, PM, SM, and HR
- Experience with HR payroll, time evaluation, and benefits.
- Experience with payroll functions, schema’s, and PCR’s.
- Preferred knowledge of ESS EP 6.0 on ECC 6.0.
- Experience with SAP Netweaver, XI, ABAP Web Dynpro, ADOBE Forms, Smartforms, C++, Oracle, DB2, Remote Procedure Calls, Java, HTML, XML and/or UNIX is a plus.
Physical Requirements: - Duties are performed during standard business hours and overtime based on project requirements.
- On call rotation, and 24-hour on-call support will require some nights and weekends.
- Valid driver’s license and the ability to attend meetings and respond to application problems at various corporate sites when necessary.
Working Conditions - Office environment.
