Job Description:
AREVA is seeking a Plant Operator A Tech. The Operator Technician is responsible for all on-shift operations and routine maintenance as directed by the Operations Manager in accordance with all permits, rules and operation.
Responsibilities and duties include:
  • Safe, reliable and efficient equipment operation of new cutting edge designed power generation systems.
  • Writing and maintaining equipment and operational logs and reports as required in a neat and professional manner. Reads and understands written instructions an log book notations.
  • Operates and monitors all systems and processes within the plant.
  • Must respond to audio alarms and variations of sounds.
  • Operates water treatment equipment and plant chemistry.
  • Verbally communicates unusual conditions to plant supervision.
  • Performs maintenance, routine and preventative when plant conditions allow, and assist in plant cleanup.
  • Performs other duties and administrative tasks as assigned by supervision.
  • Complies with all safety, health and environmental rules and procedures.
All candidates must meet the following minimum requirements in order to be considered for this opportunity. Candidates who exceed minimum qualifications may be considered for a higher level position.
  • High School Diploma, trade schools, military service or technical training schools.
  • Minimum 3 years experience operating power or processing plants.
  • Valid California Driver's License and acceptable driving record.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Basic knowledge of power plant chemistry, physics, electricity and mathematics.
  • Must be able to respond calmly and think clearly during emergency situations.
The following requirements are desired and will be used to differentiate all candidates who apply for this position.
  • Abundance of cycling experience as this plant will be in a steady state of starts and stops.
TRAVEL
Sporadic (5%) domestic and international travel. The selected individual could be asked to move into a commissioning position to help with startup of other facilities which would require much more travel.
