Basic Purpose
Directs the work of the shift operating teams in producing energy safely, efficiently, reliably and in compliance with applicable government regulations. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Develops and implements operating procedures and administers shift training programs.

Leads an operating team in the safe operation of all equipment required for the production of electricity using established procedures.

Promotes environmental awareness and ensures a regulatory compliance in all operations.

Identifies and recommends plant betterment projects.

Maintains plant availability and reliability to meet needs of customers and corporate goals.

Ensures safe, accurate and timely clearances.

May be required to supervise maintenance and contract personnel on alternate shifts as appropriate.

Performs related duties as assigned.

Essential Education, Skills, and Environment
Education and Work Experience
Bachelor's degree in a related area and 5 or more years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Specialized Knowledge and Skills
A minimum of 3 years experience as a control room operator preferred.  Some knowledge of industrial or power plant maintenance and training.  Supervisory experience or training.  Knowledge of OSHA and environmental regulations and good written and oral communications skills.
