Job Description
 
Responsibilities
 

 Maintain and calibrate all type of electrical, DCS, PLC and pneumatic control systems used in the production of electric and steam power.               

 

Responsible for the proper maintenance and operation of complex electrical systems and equipment that directly affect the safety and operations of the power plant.  Performs a wide variety of maintenance functions, such as insulating, painting, lubricating, carpentry; mechanical maintenance and repair of power plant equipment.  Maintains power plant equipment in a safe and environmental compliant standard.


JOB DUTIES

  • Troubleshoots and corrects mechanical problems and malfunctions
  • Performs skilled electrical and mechanical work
  • Installs and operates power plant and building equipment
  • Performs electrical maintenance including heat tracing, motor replacement, motor overhaul, lighting fixture and lighting circuit maintenance.
  • May assists in the administration and oversight of contractors conducting plant maintenance, warehousing activities and building and grounds maintenance.  
  • Responsible for assisting in the operation, preventive maintenance, and clean up of equipment to maintain a safe work area.
  • Performs related work as assigned.
 
Requirements
 

 Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Experience in physical plant operations and maintenance, gas turbine combined cycle power plant operations, on-site maintenance scheduling and execution experience, knowledge of the operation and maintenance of high-pressure boilers and related mechanical equipment, Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions applicable to the work, knowledge of automated boiler and chiller controls and electrical and pneumatic controls.


Working Conditions
May require employees to be exposed to hazardous work environments, and to work outdoors, as well as in an office.  Some jobs require an employee to work in an environment that involves exposure to unpleasant and noxious fumes, as well as odors and loud noises.  The job duties require an employee to bend, stoop, reach, or stand for extended periods and to move heavy objects.

Education
Educational level typical acquired through completion of high school.

 

  Preferred Education/Experience   

At least two (2) years of formal training in electronics, instrumentation, engineering or a related technical discipline

Four (4) years industrial experience in electronics repair and calibration or two (2) years military experience in electronics repair and calibration may be substituted for formal training

Ten (10) years (including Apprentice Training Program) of industrial Instrument and Control maintenance experience in the repair, inspection, calibration and troubleshooting of related power plant equipment.

Desired Experience:

Maintaining PLC, Pneumatic Control System, ABB DCS, Siemens TXP, Alstrom P320, Rosemont transmitters, computers, metering, monitoring and control systems on boilers, steam & gas turbines, generators, and plant auxiliary equipments
