Job Description
The Human Resources Director (HRD) participates in the development and deployment of the HR strategy for the Enterprise and their client team. The HRD originates and leads HR practices and procedures that will support PSEG’s strategic objectives of operational excellence, financial strength, and disciplined investments. The HRD will work with the Human Resources Leadership team. The HRD is also an integral part of the client management team and should feel comfortable developing effective working relationships as well as influencing and challenging the senior management team. This position may either support business units or corporate functions.

The HRD is a leadership role within HR as well as the company. It requires the incumbent to think broader than his or her direct business area, to lead by example with strong collaborative efforts, and to create a positive, high performing work environment within and across HR. All candidates should have broad knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines with a track record of rolling out, implementing and driving the following areas: succession planning, talent reviews, performance management, training and development planning, employee survey results and action planning, compensation and benefits, organizational effectiveness/organizational design.

Responsibilities:
•Provide the leadership and oversight for day-to-day management of Human Resources activities as it relates to specific client organization assignments.
•Assess and anticipate human capital needs and develop appropriate strategies and solutions to meet business requirements.
•Maintains an effective level of business literacy to be able to substantively contribute to the success of the business based on its business objectives, financial position; short, mid, and long term plans; its culture; and its market competitiveness
•Build strong relationships and collaborate with HR specialist functions including: compensation, benefits, talent management, recruiting, diversity, and HR analytics to develop and implement initiatives and facilitate high quality, timely and efficient delivery of HR programs and processes
•Work in close conjunction with Industrial Relations to provide tactical guidance and support for union relations
•Collaborate and work as part of the HRD team to ensure consistent communications, consistent application of programs and processes and knowledge sharing across the Enterprise
•Build and lead a team of highly qualified, high performing HR professionals (client consultants) to support business unit goals and objectives.
•Develop oversight knowledge of the business group's activities and responsibilities including; understanding business issues, requirements, interdependencies and staffing implications

Requirements:
•Minimum of five to seven years experience as a strategic partner to the business or HR
•Minimum of ten years experience in HR or in a leadership capacity in a similarly complex environment where responsibilities included partnering with key executives
•Minimum of three to five years experience implementing and leading Talent Management programs
•Familiarity and/or experience with HR disciplines and processes
•Excellent consulting and client service skills, able to effectively contract, negotiate, and manage key relationships
•Ability to work across the HR organization, function in a matrix environment and be able to leverage and coordinate with HR Centers of Excellence to develop integrated human capital plans and solutions
•Strong client management skills, business acumen and established business literacy skills
•Highly developed internal consulting and influencing skills at the senior management and executive levels
•Adept at change management concepts and practices
•Demonstrated ability to develop strong, trusting business relationships at all levels and be regarded as a trusted partner
•Effectively envision, develop, and implement new strategies to address competitive, complex business issues
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills for multiple audiences including staff, management, and senior executives
•High degree of autonomy and self-motivation, demonstrating initiative and an ability to manage multiple priorities with a sense of urgency and results orientation
•Detail oriented with a disciplined approach to process
•Knowledge of federal and state employment laws and regulations
•Strong analytical skills; uses and interprets data to validate plans and approaches. Strong MS Word, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint skills
