Only candidates within Utility will be considered for this role. Note: There will be flexibility in the reporting location. Collaborate with corporate EHS, key constituencies and utility trade groups and assess impacts, develop positions and compliance strategies to help shape the outcome of state, regional and national environmental regulatory, legislative and public policy proposals relevant to PSE&G. Provide operating departments and senior management with guidance on impacts and compliance strategy for federal, state and local environmental regulatory issues, proposed / adopted laws and regulations, guidelines and compliance practices. Develop positions, impact assessments and comments for environmental compliance with new mandates. Coordinate utility comments on proposed regulations and business impact, insure that regulatory requirements are recognized and options for compliance are identified and evaluated. Provide expertise, training and information exchange to meet the client community needs, minimize impacts to field operations and assure full compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. Investigate and recommend innovative solutions to specific problems utilizing best practices, networking and benchmarking actions and incorporate appropriate improvements. Negotiate and resolve environmental compliance issues and penalties with environmental agencies. Provide assistance in managing relationships, negotiations, contracts and facility environmental audits of vendors managing solid / hazardous waste and PCB waste. Provide regulatory support / guidance, coordination and direction to environmental professionals for routine and project environmental compliance and field operations. Applies business "know how", anticipates customer needs for budgeting and planning environmental compliance impacts. Responsibilities include integration of regulatory and business requirements into cost-effective compliance solutions. Provide technical direction, guidance and implementation of environmental compliance programs for the Utility in accordance with Federal, State and local regulations and Company policies and procedures. Prepare procedures relating to compliance with regulatory and environmental requirements. Develop and prepare reports to Federal and State regulatory agencies. Independently interface with regulatory agency representatives to develop or discuss complex environmental issues / projects. Coordinate and guide environmental programs and compliance efforts. Identify and evaluate compliance trends and recommend corrective action or system improvements. Oversee activities of employees and contractors addressing the environmental impacts of our operations on customer properties. Ensure day to day operations are conducted in an environmentally compliant manner. Monitor and insure adherence to these standards by contractors during project work. Drive implementation of consistent environmental processes, programs and procedures throughout the Utility. Identify and address compliance gaps. Foster activities to establish utility-wide compliance programs where appropriate. Support reporting environmental performance as required. Essential: Bachelor Degree in Environmental Sciences, Engineering, Chemistry, Public Policy, Management or Science. Experience working with environmental compliance programs; Minimum five years’ experience in Energy Business, Utility operations or related area; Knowledge of EHS regulations; excellent oral and written communication skills. Six years of environmental agency or related experience specific to the position. Must foster an inclusive work environment and respects all aspects of diversity. Desirable: Master degree in environmental sciences or engineering, MBA, PE, CHMM Certification. | |
