Job Description
We have a challenging opportunity available for a Manager, Environmental Services & Media Compliance in Denver. The successful candidate will be responsible for formulating and directing programs to maintain compliance with air quality requirements in the specified Xcel Energy jurisdiction(s). They will plan and direct the air quality services function for assigned areas, including permitting, compliance and federal and state rulemaking. The will also provide leadership and direction to professional and technical personnel in the air quality arena.
Responsibilities
  • Directs and implements corporate environmental strategies to facilitate environmental compliance with various federal, state and local air and water quality statutes. Keeps abreast of current laws and regulations. Assesses risk of potential future noncompliance and prepares strategies to minimize that risk.
  • Provides direction and leadership to environmental management and professional personnel in order to respond to corporate environmental needs. Stays current on all technical and legal aspects of air and water quality issues and how they affect compliance of Xcel Energy. Works closely with Legal Department.
  • Maintains hiring, promotion, and employee training and development practices in compliance with Corporate affirmative action plans, EEO policies, company policies and procedures, and consistent with organization goals and objectives. Reviews and approves human resource decisions related to Environmental Policy and Services Department.
  • Advises executive management by interpreting and applying regulatory requirements as they apply to proposed projects and existing operations.
  • Directs activities focused on influencing development of rulemaking at state level regarding air and water quality issues. Prepares and presents testimony on environmental issues.

Required
  • Bachelors degree in engineering, applied sciences, environmental sciences or related discipline
  • 6 years of environmental industry experience
Preferred
  • Demonstration of progressive responsibilities or experience and/or leadership roles
