General responsibilities include: · Obtain CALA Accreditation (ISO 17025) and maintain the CALA Accreditation program requirements. · Provide leadership in all aspects of the QA/QC program including, but no limited to, proficiency testing, training, writing and maintaining of the laboratory QA/QC manual and review/ develop of work instructions for laboratory personnel. · Ensure the laboratory operates in full compliance within the regulatory framework. · Ensure quality control procedures and quality assurance measures are followed by laboratory personnel at all times. · Ensure any non-conformances and appropriate corrective and preventative actions are implemented and documented. · Manages and maintains all necessary support systems and documentation (eg. QA/Qc database) as required for performance monitoring, auditing and reporting. · Participate in CALA and other training programs as required. · Keep current with performing assays to both maintain working knowledge and provide lab support as required. · Reports to the Chief Metallurgist/ Site Manager. Qualifications for the position include: · Degree in Chemistry or a Technical Certification with applicable experience. · Experience performing standard quality assurance/ quality control evaluation procedures. · Three years hands-on experience in a laboratory environment. · Experience with developing accreditation to ISO 17025 is an asset. · Strong organizational and administrative skills with a view to continuous improvement. · Must have good oral/ written communication skills. · Well developed computer skills with Microsoft Office products. · Ability to work independently and within team environments. · Experience in mining or other heavily regulated industry, an asset. Work Location & Schedule: McClean Lake 7 in / 7 out - 77 hours/week
