Overview: The Operations Coordinator serves as the work week scheduler for all disciplines in the facility and is responsible for the integration of on-line scheduling, i.e. preparation, execution, coordination and post evaluation of on line work activities in accordance with the site's Work Management Process. The position is also a key member of the operations leadership team and primarily responsible for administration and execution of the facility Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) program. This position currently reports to the manager Operations/Maintenance. Responsibilities: Scheduling: - Facilitates a daily meeting that reviews the planned work for the next work day.
- Facilitates a daily meeting with the planners and supervisors to review work orders to prioritize them in regards to criticality and necessity.
- Facilitates a weekly meeting that will review all planned work and determine what work should be scheduled for the next three weeks.
- Works with the Planner on setting work order priorities based on resource needs.
- Prioritizes and schedules both Operation and Maintenance Work Orders.
- Understands the workings of the Measurement and Analysis process and its effect on scheduling.
- Identifies obstacles in the work management process and work through them.
- Coordinates with site work groups to identify high priority work that could impact the scheduled activities. Based on priorities identified, assists in managing site resources to complete priority work
- Coordinates with groups outside of the facility for necessary testing and/or maintenance.
- Accountable for follow-up evaluation activities for major work activities and for the overall work week critique
- Works with the outage manager in the development of outage scopes based on existing work orders, a knowledge of concerns, and expected PM work.
LOTO: - Creation, modification, and deletion of LOTO to support work activities.
- In accordance with scheduled tasks, initiate and /or approve LOTO requests within the software and in accordance with LOTO procedure.
- Interface with areas outside of the plant to schedule LOTO activities, i.e., Transmission System
- Run reports to manage the LOTO backlog
Supervisory Relief: - Serves as relief for the Operating Shift Supervisor as needed. This will require the knowledge of plant operations, and an understanding of the rules and regulations involved with the permits required to operate the plant.
General: - Fills in for the Operations/Maintenance Manager during absences/vacations.
- Recommends operational strategies based on due diligence plant assessments.
- Assistis in the development of staffing plans, operational procedures, and work stoppage plans.
- Assists in developing Operations expense and capital budgets.
- Develops and implements standard operating procedures for the facility.
- Assists in developing and implementing training for the Operations Department.
- Completes operational event reports for the plant.
Qualifications: - Working knowledge of Power Plant operations and safety
- Computer knowledge - proficiency with LOTO Systems, SAP, Excel, Word and PowerPoint
- Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to learn quickly and work under pressure
- Demonstrated planning and organizational skills
- Uses discretion concerning confidential and sensitive company information
- Team player able to work with all levels of the GenOn organization.
- This position requires the ability to work overtime with little or no advance notice and will require some travel.
- Past experience regarding project management responsibilities, including schedule integration, activity implementation and post event evaluation will also be considered toward candidate selection.
- Must be qualified to immediately assume the position of Operations Manager on a temporary basis.
- Requires an in-depth knowledge of modern power generation methods and practices relative to operations, maintenance and engineering. This includes a working knowledge of oil and gas fired steam generation.
- The ability to develop positive relationships with the plant management teams is a prerequisite to success in this position.
- A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university preferred and/or a minimum of five (5) years relevant power plant-related technical experience.
- Candidate must have a minimum of 10 years of experience in power plant operations, maintenance and engineering disciplines, with a minimum of five years in management positions.
