The AREVA Reactors & Services Business Group:
The Reactors and Services Business Group combines the nuclear reactor design and construction activities and the products and services activities necessary for the maintenance, operation, modernization, and improvement of power plants. It also includes vessel propulsion nuclear reactor and research reactor activities. AREVA is currently constructing four EPR™ reactors, of generation III .
Job Description:
AREVA is seeking a Stearns Roger Operations Manager.
Responsibilities and duties include:
Outage Leadership
This is the number one focus for the operational manager during the Spring and Fall outage season. Operation manager should be engaged in the day to day outage activities where SRS employees are participating. This would include morning operational meetings, supporting war room activities related to equipment down-time, and supporting technicians with personal challenges as needed. Operations would follow each outage support task from start to finish and would include the following activities.
  • Develop and update the SRS services schedule for Outage/Inage timeframe.
  • Provide Outage Loadboard input and execute jobs to the as sold.
  • Update RMS and verify that technicians are training (physicals, respirators, ect.).
  • Monitor Human Performance cards for quality, quantity, and site sharing.
  • Develop red folders with standard needs and have them available for RR meetings.
  • Support RR meetings (internal/external) and develop actions to drive readiness.
  • Monitor the outage close-out reports for accuracy, timely submittal, and proper content.
  • Send out and receive Customer Survey reports from our Customers.
  • Work with PL to provide technical write-ups as necessary for upcoming workscopes.
Training Leadership
This is also an important part of our core business by providing a plan to meet the requirements in the AREVA system and drive the continuous improvement process. This process will need support from your full-time employees to develop lesson plans, technical training exercises, and instructing. It also includes monitoring of the required AREVA administrative/HR training for your employees in the Portfolio process as shown below:
  • Technical Training lesson plans and certification sheets.
  • Technical Training classes to include certification for levels 1 and 2.
  • Portfolio Training for employees.
  • New employee training and required reading.
  • Training Plans as identified in your employees PRD for progression growth.
HR Monitoring
You will be the first line of defense for HR compliance for your people. You will also evaluate your personnel and perform yearly reviews with progression plans. You will evaluate you upcoming Outage Loadboards and determine if additional resources are required. If such resources are required you will fill out the employee requisition and submit to the PL for approval. Any progression increases as a result of your personnel's performance will be submitted to the PL by way of a Personnel Action Form (PAF). These responsibilities and additional are identified below.
  • PRD yearly reviews with employee progression plans.
  • Yearly input to the A012P14380 and A012P14384 cost center.
  • Employee requisitions forms and lead during interview process.
  • Personnel Action Form (PAF) to propose increases to your top performers.
  • Development plans for your least performers to identify actions and improve.
  • Monitoring of the BOP for your employees.
  • Monitoring pay and employee pay challenges and work with PL to resolve.
  • Monitor employee (part-time/full-time) charge hours and work to keep employees billable through the no peak outage season.
All candidates must meet the following minimum requirements in order to be considered for this opportunity. Candidates who exceed minimum qualifications may be considered for a higher level position.
  • Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Bachelor's Degree or 5 years of directly related equivalent experience in lieu of degree, PLUS 10 years of closely related experience.
  • Prior experience in a supervisory role.
  • Previous outage management skills.
  • Good communication, writing, and interpersonal skills.
  • Good Customer communications skills.
  • High ethical standards.
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory, human performance, and safety requirements.
The following requirements are desired and will be used to differentiate all candidates who apply for this position.
  • Stearns Roger refuel equipment operator or knowledge thereof in the electrical and I&C field a plus.
  • PLC programming and understanding.
  • Capable of reading electrical and mechanical design drawings.
  • In depth knowledge of machining, I & C Controls, and/or welding, preferably all.
  • Technical expertise in nuclear plant repair and replacement of components.
  • Support product line with proposal development including technical write up and OEB.
  • Project Scheduling and budget monitoring.

Seasonal (25%) domestic travel for oversight and outage optimization or improvements.
