AREVA is seeking an Engineering Alliance Manager or a Site Director to support the South Texas Project (STP). This qualified individual will support the Installed Base Business - Reactors and Services Business Unit. An Engineering Alliance Manager would report to the Manager of the Engineering Alliances Product Line and the Site Director would report to the VP of Plant Upgrades and be responsible for the following:
  • Overall Customer Interface at the Site.
  • Managing Assigned Projects.
  • Leadership of Personnel Assigned To Site.
  • Performance of Site Projects.
  • Growth of Business.
  • Quality of Engineering Deliverables to Client.
The primary responsibilities are reflected in activities summarized below:
  • Primary interface for STP Design Engineering Manager for all projects assigned to AREVA.
  • Participation in Plant Health Committee meetings in support of equipment reliability and system improvements
  • Responsible for proposed solution and technical content of modification packages on site.
  • Ensuring project profitability; managing cash flow and achieving expected cash position.
  • Delivering completed project successfully and ensuring all project measures of success are achieved.
  • Directing project controls activities or self perform according to project size/complexity.
  • Developing estimates and proposals.
  • Conducting effective project meetings (project kickoff, client alignment, status meetings, and progress reviews).
  • Providing meaningful performance related feedback/input to appropriate line management.
  • Assuring project team members' understanding of performance expectations with relation to project.
  • Establishing and managing effective change control and risk management processes.
  • Managing the client, ensuring effective business relationships are in place and trusted by the client.
  • Establishing and implementing project reporting and status for the project team, management and client.
  • Managing the invoicing process to ensure timely issuance and payment of invoices.
  • Developing presentations for the client, community outreach, management team and teammates.
  • Managing the project in accordance with STP and AREVA policies and procedures.
  • Developing and implementing an effective project resource management plan.
  • Developing the client to secure additional workscope in the future by broadening our delivery base (including other business units offerings).
  • This position will serve as the overall point of contact for site activities at the South Texas Project near Houston, TX.
Typical Projects the Alliance Manager would be responsible for:
  • Preparation of scoping studies to clearly describe the plant issue and potential solutions. Solutions may range from analytical or procedural changes, physical changes to the plant, or take no action (i.e., a "do nothing" option
  • Development of Engineering Change packages when scoping study determines plant modification is "Right Solution".
Typical Additional Projects the Site Director would be responsible for:
  • Supporting the Pumps and Motors Business Unit on the current Alliance contract
  • Supporting future Projects and Services at STP

All candidates must meet the following minimum requirements in order to be considered for this Site Engineering Director opportunity. Candidates who exceed minimum qualifications may be considered for a higher level position.
Minimum Qualifications-Technical:
  • Manager I, Engineering - B.S. in Engineering/Engineering Technology plus 10-12 years of engineering experience, at least 10 of which were involved with design/system engineering for a commercial nuclear power plant. An advanced business related degree or an advanced engineering degree may be substituted for related work experience (MBA 1-2 years, MS 1-2 years or PhD 1-3 years).
  • Manager, Site Engineering - B.S. in Engineering/Engineering Technology plus 15 years of engineering experience, at least 10 of which were involved with design/system engineering for a commercial nuclear power plant. An advanced business related degree or an advanced engineering degree may be substituted for related work experience (MBA 1-2 years, MS 1-2 years or PhD 1-3 years).
  • Expertise as a project manager on the following types of projects: Fixed Price, Time and Materials, Cost Plus.
  • Working knowledge of personal computers and software applications with MS office application proficiency.
  • Effective written communication skills, ability to compose complex technical documents, formal letters, invoices, presentations, papers, etc.
  • Effective oral communication skills involving staff, employees, client interactions.
  • Proven track record of initiative and independence with a bias towards action.
  • Proven track record in the project environment; effective time management skills, demonstrated effective, assertive decision making skills, able to see the big picture.
  • Proven track record of creating business opportunities that add value and increase profitability.
  • Working knowledge of AREVA NP businesses outside personal area of expertise.
  • Proven track record of effectively challenging the status quo.
  • Working knowledge of project accounting practices and financial systems (e.g., revenue recognition, invoicing and cash flow, system input and reporting requirements related to projects).
Minimum Qualifications - Non-technical
  • Proven track record in leading and influencing others to work in a co-operative team-oriented environment with little or no reliance on authority to implement actions.
  • Ability to quickly and accurately analyze key issues or situations; make sound, logical, and timely decisions even with limited information.
  • Proven track record of consistency between communication and behavior.
  • Expertise in maintaining constructive internal and external relationships while effectively navigating organizational barriers and negotiating through political situations.
  • Proven track record of attentiveness and responsiveness in all interactions and is receptive to other's ideas. Communications are timely and tactful.
  • Proven track record managing a diverse group; developing, coaching and mentoring others.
The following requirements are desired and will be used to differentiate all candidates who apply for this position.
  • Experience with South Texas Project site.
  • Five plus years of direct plant modification experience.
  • Registered Professional Engineer, MBA, PMI certification, Advanced Engineering degree.
  • AREVA Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Certification (or equivalent) preferred
TRAVEL:
This is a deployed position. The individual will be located at the South Texas Project (STP) plant site and may be required to travel between multiple sites. Additional travel to AREVA offices for alignment meetings, reviews, and training will also be required.
