Monitor and evaluate coal plant mechanical performance. Conduct engineering analysis and develop recommendations to maintain and improve generating plant efficiency, reliability, safety, environmental compliance and cost performance - initiate corrective action as needed. Manage the development and implementation of mechanical projects in the plant as needed to improve equipment performance and reliability. Evaluate plant equipment performance, operating practices and procedures and modify as appropriate. Perform root cause and cost/benefit analysis on equipment deficiencies. Identify resources and act as a sponsor between Generation Projects and station associates in the design and application of new technology. Develop equipment/services bid specifications, evaluate purchase recommendations. Provide technical support and direction to contractors and in-house labor supervisors. Perform engineering studies in all areas of equipment improvement, specifying materials, equipment, calibration and test requirements. Maintain and apply working knowledge of PSEG standards for Business Controls and meet management’s expectations for effective internal business controls. Requirements: -BS in Engineering. If no engineering degree but have equivalent experience this position title will be Fossil Technical Specialist. -Five years experience in utility or manufacturing plant environment. -Understanding of permit limitations and regulatory requirements. -Experience in plant design, control and operation. -Power Plant Experience.
