POSITION DESCRIPTION
AREVA Federal Services LLC, a subsidiary of AREVA, is seeking a Seismic Analysis Engineer.
This is a Structural/Seismic Analysis Engineer position within the Process Unit Design and Commissioning (PUDC) TIII Engineering Organization for the MOX Fuel Fabrication Facility (MFFF) Project. This position reports to a Lead Structural Engineer within the PUDC TIII Engineering Organization.
The Title III Design Group provides engineering support for process units within the facility for which the design has been completed and fabrication is underway. The Title III Design Group is responsible for resolution of technical issues associated with specific process units within the facility as well as generic issues common to multiple process units. Resolution may be in the form of design modifications to specific drawings/documents and/or the processing of engineering change requests (ECRs).
The selected individual will be expected to:
· Perform seismic/structural analysis on designs including equipment, gloveboxes, etc.;
· Qualify glovebox shells, bellows, support frames and anchors to maintain integrity/confinement under deadweight, internal pressure, thermal expansion, seismic inertia, seismic anchor movement, externally applied nozzle loads, impact loading from load drops, and external missiles;
· Qualify process equipment, supports, barriers, and limit stops to remain anchored, retain loads, and prevent over travel under deadweight, live, seismic inertia loading, and impact loading;
· Qualify pressure piping for deadweight, pressures, thermal expansion, and seismic inertia loading;
· Transmit accelerations, reactions, and deflections for use by interfacing structural, mechanical, and electrical organizations; and
· Coordinate work efforts with other staff as required.
COMPANY DESCRIPTION
Shaw AREVA MOX Services, LLC is a consortium of companies based in Aiken, SC and formed to advance the Department of Energy's mission to dispose of surplus weapon grade plutonium. The plutonium is disposed of by mixing it with uranium and forming a mixed oxide (MOX) fuel for use in existing nuclear reactors. After the MOX fuel is irradiated in the reactor, the plutonium can no longer be used for nuclear weapons. AREVA Federal Services provides resources to MOX Services for the design, construction, licensing and operations of the MOX Fuel Fabrication Facility (MFFF) to be built at the Savannah River Site. Resources provided are in the following disciplines: Licensing, ES&H, Integrated Safety Analysis, QA, Engineering Assurance, Process Engineering, Systems Engineering, Design and Engineering (Structural, Electrical, I &C, Seismic, Nuclear Criticality, Piping, Mechanical, HVAC), Project Safety, Procurement, Project Controls, Software Design, Training, Records Management, Operations, and Information Technology.

All candidates must meet the following minimum requirements in order to be considered for this opportunity. Candidates who exceed minimum qualifications may be considered for a higher level position.
  • Must have a MS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil engineering, or related engineering field with FEA background; or BS with 5 year related working experience.
  • Must have a working knowledge of National Codes and Standards such as ASME, ASCI, ASTM, and ANSI standards.
  • Must be proficient in ANSYS software, Microsoft Office, and MATHCAD.
  • Must be organized, technically competent, have excellent oral and written communication skills.
The following requirements are desired and will be used to differentiate all candidates who apply for this position.
  • Previous experience in working in a multi-discipline design team environment is preferred.
  • Experience with conveyors, lifts, hoists, automated manufacturing systems, and glovebox design.
  • Some proficiency in AutoCAD, Solidworks, Pro/E is desired.
