Job Description

The Harquahala Generating Facility is a 1100 MW natural-gas combined cycle power facility located in Maricopa County, Arizona.

GENERAL SUMMARY

The ZLD Technician is responsible for assisting with operations and maintenance of the Zero Liquid Discharge facility, on a continuous basis.  The ZLD Technician will assist the on shift O&M Technician assigned to operate the ZLD and perform basic maintenance activities on ZLD equipment and system. The ZLD Technician assures that the plant meets its availability requirements while operating in a safe, efficient and environmentally conscientious manner.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS

Work as assigned by the O&M Manager/Supervisor. Based on those assignments, obtain direct guidance from the Lead O&M or Lead Maintenance Technicians.

Assist with operations of the equipment and monitor operational parameters, ensuring reliably and continuous operability of equipment.

Operate and maintain filter presses and associated equipment.

Maintain operations of chemical pumping system ensuring optimal chemistry control and equipment reliability.

Assist with maintenance activities in the ZLD to included mechanical work, instrumentation and electrical repair activities.

Perform or assist with, depending on the level of complexity, preventive maintenance actions.

Perform or assist with, depending on the level of complexity, planned maintenance (PM) and routine repairs to damaged or malfunctioning equipment.

Withdraw parts and supplies from inventory and complete usage reports to report such withdrawals to the plant's inventory control system.  Assist in physical inventories.

Work around and repair rotating equipment, chemical systems and water processing equipment.

Perform or assist with chemical handling and offloads.

Perform emergency operations and maintenance to maintain water production and safeguard facility equipment.

Obtain direction from other team members to effect changes in plant conditions and chemistry.

Complete other tasks as requested by the Operations & Maintenance Supervisors.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to understand procedures and instructions specific to the area of assignment as would be acquired in four years of high school. 
  • Minimum two years experience as Power Plant or Water Plant Technician or equivalent position required. 
  • Associate Degree in a technical field desirable.
  • Must successfully complete the assigned qualification.
  • Must successfully complete a Mechanical Aptitude test and a Basic Mathematical test.
