Job Description
Assist attorneys in the General Litigation practice area of the Law Department. Heavy concentration will be in the bankruptcy and commercial collection area but successful candidate will also be expected to support general litigation matters, including personal injury and property damage litigation. Manage bankruptcy and collection files, and track scheduling orders and case calendars. Prepare court documents (e.g. pleadings, discovery requests/responses, motion papers and settlement documents). Assist in trial/hearing preparation, witness preparation and scheduling. Act as point of contact with courts, agencies, clients, retained counsel and adversaries.

Essential: Paralegal Certificate and law office/law department work experience. Bankruptcy and collection experience. Must be proficient with computer applications including MS Office, Excel, Case/Matter Management and Document Management. Must have ability to interact professionally with clients, attorneys and retained counsel. Effective planning and prioritization, problem solving, organizational and analytical skills. Mature judgment, ingenuity and flexibility. Ability to work independently.

Desirable: Some college level courses, college degree and ability to perform legal research using Internet based research tools including Lexis, Westlaw and PACER. Experience with bankruptcy court ecf system.
