The Engineering & Projects Organization:
Engineering & Projects Organization performs a wide range of engineering and project activities needed to build, upgrade, support operations or dismantle nuclear reactors, uranium production facilities, uranium enrichment plants, spent fuel recycling and waste management facilities.
We work exclusively for the AREVA Group, executing the necessary scope of work either with our internal resources and/or together with external partners.

Job Description:
AREVA is looking for an I&C Systems Design Engineer for our Charlotte, NC office.
Responsibilities of qualified individuals will include:
  • Assisting with hardware and software design for I&C systems, including all areas of the product lifecycle from specification, design, documentation, procurement, manufacturing, assembly, testing, delivery, training and installation support.
  • Working in a team-based environment to assist other engineers with the design of digital control systems for Nuclear I&C applications, as well as assisting clients in defining system requirements, developing system logic and defining control parameters to satisfy requirements.
  • Preparing documentation such as requirements, test procedures, and will assist senior design engineers during installation and startup of delivered I&C systems.
  • Evaluating design alternatives and resolving complex field problems.
Typical Projects This Group May Work On:
  • Analog and digital module design and repair.
  • PLC based control and data acquisition systems.
  • Design and installation of large digital control systems.
  • Hardware and Software development areas include plant control systems such as reactor protection and non-safety systems for data acquisition and Plant Integrated Control.
All candidates must meet the following minimum requirements in order to be considered for this opportunity. Candidates who exceed minimum qualifications may be considered for a higher level position.
  • Engineer I: BS in Engineering plus 0 -2 years of engineering experience.
  • Engineer II: BS in Engineering plus 2-3 years of engineering experience. An advanced degree may be substituted for related exp. (MS 1-2 yrs. or PhD 1-3 yrs.).
  • Willing to travel to plant sites as needed for long period of time.
  • Must have experience with designing, testing, maintaining control systems.
  • Must have experience preparing documentations such as requirements specifications, and test procedures.
  • Experience integrating software and hardware into a finished product.
  • Experience resolving complex technical field problems for customers.
  • Possesses comprehensive knowledge in particular field of specialization and has completed significant assignments. Has well-developed leadership qualities.
  • An advanced degree may be substituted for related exp. (MS 1-2 yrs. or PhD 1-3 yrs.).
  • In applicable states a PE license will be accepted in lieu of a 4 year engineering degree.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Works well in a team based development environment and comfortable interfacing directly with external customers.
  • Must be able to gain on-site access to a nuclear plant.

  • I&C design, maintenance, or operations experience in nuclear or electricity generating plant.
  • Experience with Reactor Safety Systems.
  • Experience with reactor plant control systems .
  • Experience with secondary control systems.
  • Object Oriented Software development experience .
  • Digital systems design development.
  • Nuclear Plant Site experience.
  • Nuclear Plant Start-up experience.
  • Nuclear Plant modification experience in a leadership role.
TRAVEL
Mostly planned, lasting a few days several times per year. Short term and long term site assignments are also available.
